Liked: This is a great hostel. The homely charm is so welcoming and warm. It is really cute, the owners have really gone above and beyond to make their guests comfortable. The rooms are huge, mine (6 bed dorm) had a table, couch, wardrobe, sink etc and really comfy beds. The kitchen is AMAZING for a hostel kitchen, very clean and contains every appliance you would want. The location could be better, but I still managed to walk almost everywhere in town from he hostel. Not really a party hostel, people are quiet and tended to keep to themselves. There were also a few families staying but the children weren't running around or causing problems.

Liked: I took one night in a female-only room. It is lovely. There is a limitation of reception time and located not in the city centre. It is good to keep people who are drunk to come in the hostel at late night. The kitchen is lovely. Good for doing cooking ourselves.

Liked: I like the old charm and character of the old building...winding staircases, fireplace, tall ceilings and big windows in the room. I had a little bit of trouble with the shower. The hot water took a while to come. I thought I was going to have to take a cold shower. I prefered the shower on the main floor for the big showerhead. After all my walking around Edinburgh, I really could have used a bath but there was no stopper for the drain. There were loud people in the room above me...had to go tell them to take their party elsewhere. The street was generally pretty quiet which was nice. Nice and helpful staff, although I had to forfeit my key deposit because I was leaving earlier than the reception opened and I didn't want to come back to the hostel early (before 10pm) instead of enjoying the city, just to get my 10 pounds back. I would stay there again.

Liked: Nice place, not too big, with wonderful sun porch and nice garden. Good kitchen. And I liked that everything was decorated with love and taste. 15 minute walk through lovely park to St Giles on Royal Mile. Wonderfully quiet - I liked it! Only problem was the bunk bed, where the lower bed had little space. However it made the upper easier to climb onto. So that is what I chose. One of the toilets broke and was repaired in the morning. One of the showers was out of order and stayed that way. And a very easy ride on bus 41 to Waverly Bridge right in front of Waverly Station and also next to the busstop for the bus to the airport. (The hostel's website however sent me on a longer walk to the Mound, where bus 41 no longer stops). Free tea and coffee but no milk.

Liked: Overall, a nice place to stay in Edinburgh. The location is a bit removed from the major sites, but then again Edinburgh is small and easily walkable.

Liked: great staff and very friendly. I paid for a parking pass which is needed till 1730 and i was off by one minute, the staff told me not to worry about coming back to pay for a new pass because they would put one in the car for me. Great staff cool location and easy to get around in. I will deffo come back again. oh and the beds were soft and warm only bad thing is that they need a mat in the bathtub so u dont slip. other than that, great place.

Liked: The whole house was very pleasant and clean and all facilities (kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom) were in good order! Staff was very friendly and location superb. Nothing to complain about and we can recommend people to stay here!

Liked: AMAZING ! I have been visiting lots of back packer and this one is the best one ! staff are so cool and ready to help you, people are cheerful, rooms are clean and safe, every body are respectful, so many facilities and it is soooo cheap, really hubba hubba !

Liked: Argyle Backpackers was a fantastic place to stay for our weekend in Edinburgh. The hostel is located a short walk from the main city area, but it is an easy walk through a nice park, so did not mind at all. Staff were friendly and helpful, and other guests were welcoming. Great kitchen facilities, clean rooms, comfy beds, and nice building layout. Argyle Backpackers feels much more home-y than any other hostel I have stayed in, which was nice.
