Liked: The location is very nice, not far from city centre. A very quite place next to a big park. The rooms are basic but ok. The toilet is separate from the shower.

Disliked: The only complain is that the kitchen didn´t have some necessary things to cook.

Liked: High standard of cleanliness. Excellent kitchen facilities. Excellent value for money considering all other hostels I have stayed at in the city.

Liked: nice place, very clean, nice sharing space, nice to relax .. 10 walking from the best area to go out , 15 from city center crossing a nice parc. check in is only at 2 pm (seems to be normsal tiem in edinbourgh) but they were nice and let us sleep in the living room and get our room at 12.

Liked: Great hostel only 10 minute walk to the city center. Includes excellent cooking facilities with 2 kitchens, 2 pcs with internet, lounge and helpful staff.

Liked: I've stayed here for 3 years in a row for the festival.It is ideally located in a quiet area with lots of good shops nearby (coffee shops, greengrocers, fresh fish shop, bars, restaurants etc...)The rooms are very spacious compared with more centrally located hostels and hte facilities are first class - great kitchen, real coffee for free. There is a big conservatory, outside patio area, living room and enough bathrooms.If you are coming to Ed. for a big piss up and a bit of mayhem; this is not the place for you. If you want to relax and enjoy the good atmosphere of the city and have a stress free time in a clean and friendly place - don't think twice and book Argyle Backpackers - I know I'll be here again next year.

Disliked: The bar across the road normally has comedy on every night during the festival. This year there was some on and when we arrived there was nothing that evening. This was a slight downside.

Liked: Good cooking facilities and nice common area. Small fridge so hard for everyone to fit in their food. There are 2 buildings for this backpackers. We stayed in the second one that is a few doors down from the main one.

Disliked: You only got 15 mins free internet on arrival otherwise you had to use their desktop computers. This was a hassel as we just wanted to relax in our room and use the internet. Arrival directions are non existant and on response to my email with 'proper' directions, we were also given a bus stop that doesn't exist. When we got into the city cetre we had to ring to find out the 'proper' bus stop and we were still not given the correct directions. Our room was next to the bathroom and the pipes screamed every time the tap was turned on, so we woken several times in the night. We would recommend to stay here but ask for proper directions (if they give it to you) and for a room away from the bathroom.

Liked: Very clean, lots of bathrooms and toilets. There is a thick carpet on floor, so you are not disturbed so much in night. Not in the inner city, but very close.

Liked: Very friendly common room with a fire and a huge television. The kitchens were incredibly clean with lots of utensils and plates. Everything was well organised.

Disliked: There were not enough showers that worked and that meant people had to queue for a long time in the morning.

Liked: Rather quiet. Clean and really cosy. Next to direct bus line to the city center.

Disliked: No real amenities around (very few restaurant, nowhere to take a breakfast unless you bought some at a supermarket).

Disliked: fire alam went off more two nights in a row and made weird sounds during the day, so it didnt feel very safe. No staff in the house the first night it went off, we called them and a guy came right away and took care of the situations
