It was quiet in the hostel, what I liked. Central heating worked so was warm. Clean bathrooms and hot water. The hostel is clean, situated in a good place, easy to find and walked to center. Grocery stores in front of the hostel what I liked.

This place is very clean, and has lovely rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and hang out areas. Be warned though, there are people who live here long term, their stuff is everywhere, and they aren't typical backpackers.

By far the best place I stayed at while traveling around Europe for 6 weeks. I spent 10 nights here and enjoyed every minute of it. Not quite a bed and breakfast, but better than your typical hostel. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was superb. The sun room and garden area behind the kitchens (yes, there are two full kitchens) were very pleasant. Also, this place is located in a residential neighborhood so there are many stores selling groceries, fruits and vegetables, organic foods, fresh meats and fish, etc. There are also several restaurants, cafes, take-away food venues, and pubs all within a few surrounding blocks. Everything a person could want and more. There is a bus stop just around the corner that connects to the Royal Mile and Princes Street, but if you choose to walk it's only about 10-15 minutes to the center of Edinburgh. You're not going to find a better place for the price. I highly recommend staying here while in Edinburgh.
