Liked: It's cheaper than most other places during festival time. If you'll be out all day seeing shows it's fine just as a place to sleep as it's in a quiet area . The well equipped kitchen allows to to save a bit of money by cooking for yourself.

Disliked: The room didn't have a chair and the mattress sagged at the edge - perhaps from people sitting on the edge of the bed. I know they can't do anything about the weather but the permanent puddle was there outside the entrance to my block for the second year running. The price has gone up quite a bit since last year. I didn't take my laptop this year but if the the in-room wired internet access service is the same as last year it's not suitable for short term visitors - there are only annual contracts designed for students living there during term time. There's a large building site across the road so it may be a good idea to ask for a room on the opposite side of the building until that's finished.

Liked: It's quite modern and the rooms are bright. The location is not too bad if you know the little shortcuts. The staff at the reception are quite friendly. It is quite quiet for a hostel.

Disliked: You don't really get to meet anyone as there is no shared are where you can meet other people. A games room or a bar would be great. The price is so wrong for this hostel...it needs to be lowered for it to be counted as a hostel !

Liked: Excellent location for the Fringe. Easy walk to most venues. Lift! Well designed modern rooms with very comfortable double bed for single use. New and clean. Free internet access in the room. Was allowed to leave bags at reception between checking out and train home.

Disliked: It took me several attempts to get the card to open the exterior door to the block every time I entered. Bin in communal kitchen was full on arrival and no clue as to where to empty it. Couldn't get the oven to work (but was able to use hob and microwave). No toaster in kitchen. No peeler or sharp knife amongst kitchen utensils (perhaps latter is a health and safety issue in accommodation shared with strangers?). Sheet was not tucked in (didn't realise this until partway through night when it was rucking up under me). Duvet cover had no poppers or buttons so open at end and tended to ruck up. No hangers in wardrobe (should have realised there wouldn't be and brought some). Would have liked some written information in room or kitchen re e.g. where to empty bins, number to call if any problems/queries etc. Was there for 8 days so happy with one set of bedding and towels but wondered what arrangements were for changing them if there for longer. Gravel path outside looks attractive but very noisy if people walk past when you are trying to sleep in an otherwise very quiet location. Rather a quiet road for walking home alone in the dark in the early hours. Please note these are all very minor niggles mentioned only because you ask for feedback. None of them spoiled my stay or made me feel I needed to make a complaint at the time (should perhaps have mentioned the oven but it may have been me not working out how to turn it on correctly and I wasn't that bothered as there were alternatives). Overall I was extremely happy with the accommodation provided and I do understand that it is student accommodation being rented out during the Fringe for the first time and that the absence of a toaster, hangers etc. is because students would provide their own.

Liked: Good basic accomodation. No-frills, but decent sized room in good location with self-catering facilites available.

Disliked: Lots of unneccessary issues that spoiled my stay. (1) Access is controlled by electronic swipecard. My swipecard wasn't programmed correctly (even though I went back to reception 3 times) so wouldn't let me in the building. If it wasn't for a broken lock at the main entrance, I would have been left sleeping on the streets. (2) On the first night, house-keeping forgot to leave towels and toilet roll in my room. (3) I complained in the morning, but the next night I discovered that house-keeping forgot to put clean bedding in the room (after taking the old bedding away).
