Liked: Great location and really friendly helpful staff. Big comfortable room.

Disliked: Paid for ensuite facilities but Art Roch needs to adress the hot water problem.One person had a shower then the other 3 of us had to use communal showers and only one of them was working.The toliet was very noisy and needed flushing about 3 times before it was clear.

Liked: Good atmosphere, staff were very friendly. Very good location, you could see the caste from just outside.

Liked: Spacious kitchen/dining area. Dorms weren't too crowded.

Disliked: Got bitten in bed by fleas or something like that. No light for the spiral staircase to kitchen - it was dark at night - dangerous especially if folk had been drinking. Dorm extremely cold as its heater didn't work. Heaters off a lot of the time so the hostel in general was cold. No hot running water in kitchen most of the time.

Liked: Nothing!!

Disliked: All! It could be good, while it was a real mess: huge, but bad kept, lift no working, kitchen enormous but chilly, no spoons, no mugs no coffee, never clean, toilets dirty aswell. Free wifi internet only at the first floor, in the dark common room/pub. In the other floors you were supposed to pay to connect to the wireless. The rooms are big but the beds are unconfortable, the doors creak and there were a lot of noise. People were always partying at every time of the night and the staff didn't nothing about it. I'm very happy I've left! Never again!

Liked: Really friendly and helpful- the best and most beautiful location in Edinburgh. The beds were so comfy and the showers are amazing. Only been to three hostels before-- and this was by far the best. A really relaxed vibe, Whatever the reason for your stay definitely stay at the Art Roch. ps paul is a brilliant receptionist

Disliked: There could be more privacy within the bedrooms.

Liked: Excellent location- couldn't get a better location for exploring the city, especially at this price. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, beds were comfy and there were lockers in the rooms

Disliked: We only stayed one night but I couldn't fault anything!

Liked: - Very nice lounge downstairs with the best comfy couches - Free Wi-Fi - Good staff

Disliked: - Unfortunate drunkards and noise that's not well controlled - Someone drunk, asleep in my bunk on my clothes when I returned, unmovable until morning, which apparently happens enough for them to post signs about sleeping in your own bunk that are quite ignored.

Liked: Staff was so friendly. Location of the hostel is great and so close to the must-see places. It was very clean, the linens; bathroom and toilets were spotlessly clean. Beds were comfortable too. Highly recommended.

Liked: Brilliant hostel. Lovely, polite staff who were always in good form, helpful, and also good fun to chat with. The recreation room/kitchen is one of the most awesome I have seen. The lower bunks on the bed also had curtains which was nice, and for the price i paid, this hostel was an absolute steal. I paid twice as much for a hostel in Glasgow the previous 3 nights that was godawful. I will definitely be returning here.

Liked: Easy to find and good location. Staff were good.

Disliked: Bathrooms were a bit like school bathroom and it was like 50p per 10mins for internet.

Liked: the atmosphere in the hostel, living room, recepcion.

Disliked: You need try to check the lockers, becouse the people use that, but don´t clean before to lift. Thanks.

Liked: It had a huge chill out room with a fantastic kitchen. Although there were 18 people in the dorm it never felt at all overcrowded. Great location and a great atmosphere.

Disliked: Instead of a key or key card the rooms had door codes which didn't feel particularly secure as you could easily get to the rooms without going past reception. They did have decent sized lockers in the rooms though

Liked: Good location, huge common area, lots of toilets and showers, friendly people

Disliked: Rooms quite cramped - nowhere to put bags, kitchen a bit of a mess, no free food shelf, internet was £1 for 10min on the computer

Liked: The bathrooms were clean and very big. Number of facilities in agreement with how many people stay in the hostel. The kitchen and communal area is great! You have to go and check it out! If you dont, you will miss the best part in the hostel ever!

Disliked: There is no private area outside the shower for you to dry yourself and get dressed.

Liked: V. cheap, and hard to beat the location. V. nice beds and sheets! Huge lovely dining room, good wifi. Many showers, always a plus! Relatively warm in dorm. Good dorm-room security. Helpful staff!

Disliked: Some guests smoked illegal substances in their dorm. Not very good front-door security. Some windowpanes in communal areas smashed.

Liked: The Art Roch is perfectly located in the Haymarket, great view of the castle from the front steps and within meters of some great pubs.

Disliked: Had to be out the next day by 10am

Liked: The lounge and kitchen area were great- there was a tone of room. Both the staff and location were great.

Disliked: there were quite a lot of groups and some of them were full if young, drunk dickheads. But that wasn't really the hostels fault.

Liked: The House is very nice, people are nice. Grassmarket is a really good place.

Disliked: nothing
