Liked: I stayed in 4 bed female dorm with an ensuite. I choose to stay at the St Christopher's chain because I like the Belushi Bar underneath. The beds were a little rickety, but quite comfortable. The shower was hot and always available. There are only 2 lockers under 4 beds and they are quite small, but there are additional lockers that can be purchased a few floors below. That being said, I couldn't fit my suitcase in there for check out and let them know. It didn't seem to be a problem. Staff are friendly, but didn't try to converse with me when I ate my meals or ordered drinks alone.

Liked: Location was perfect! Just minutes to Royal Mile and to Princes street. Seconds from the train station!The rooms were very, very small. There were no heating. It was absolutely freezing in the room. You were forced to have your jacket on inside the room! The corridor was warmer than the rooms! We told the staff hundreds of times, but they didn’t seem to bother to do anything, just blaming it on being an old building. Yes it is in an old building, but it doesn’t justify the fact that the temperature in the room was about 12 degrees.

Liked: We loved the extreme cold shower and the cheap breakfast! mmmmm so tasty! Central location and warm radiators.. top dollar! We recommend Haggis instead of chips!

Liked: First of all Breakfast, location and cleanliness were good. I liked the hostel was also a quite cheap bar and restaurant, so you just have to go downstairs to get drinks or anything you want.

Liked: good having a bar downstairs. friendly staff, annoying that theres no kitchen, only a microwave (which is ok, but would be better with more) breakfast included, and option of paying additional for proper meal...fairly good location, just off the royal mile. i enjoyed my stay here!

Liked: Had constant trouble with swipe cards - and saw quite a few other people who had the same problem.Shared showers not the best. However, dorm with ensuite bathroom was ok.Could do with a kitchen - there is a microwave although it didnt have a plate and you cant read the timer.Common area was pretty good.Wickedly overpriced in the weekend - this seems to be the norm though in Edinburgh.Overall pretty average.
