Liked: The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful in their suggestions on what to see and do in Edinburgh. It has a great atmosphere just like the rest of the city. The hostel was very clean and had some really nice lounge areas.

Disliked: There's no lift, so after a long day climbing the hills of Edinburgh, the stairs seem like a journey of their own!

Liked: The location is great, the staff friendly and helpful, it is well equipped (bed are really comfortable and it is not so often the case in hostels, they do have very interesting discount agreements with places nearby.

Disliked: Not much actually. Maybe some member of staff are friendlier than others... But is is not really a dislike.

Liked: Great location near the royal mile, 24 hr reception and very helpful staff...Definitely use again ...

Disliked: Water in shower was kinda cold in the mornings, certainly woke us up bigtime!!!

Liked: I enjoyed my burger and chips prepared for me by a nice scottish man from the kitchen :)

Disliked: there wasn't any hot water when i took my shower.....pretty bad in january

Liked: All staff were really friendly and helpful and the whole atmosphere of the hostel was fab.

Disliked: That the shower rooms were mixed with. I didn't feel there was enough per floor.

Liked: I really liked that there was a kitchen, and they had laundry services. It was the cheapest laundry service of my entire trip and they do all of the washing and drying for you, so you can spend your day enjoying Edinburgh.

Disliked: It is a little big and impersonal. Also, there is only one computer to use, so make sure to bring you own and use the WIFI.

Liked: The location is perfect and despite the size of the room, it was very neat and tidy.

Disliked: The room was small and there was no place to change clothes. Not enough hooks in shower room.

Liked: Clean for the bedrooms and the bathrooms and in a great location. Very good for a very cheap stay.

Disliked: Showers : shower curtains have to be replaced, their are stinky and dirty. Also, only 2 showers for a dorm of 18. One shower never gave us hot water and the second one was running of hot water ver fast. So people, were rushing to be the first one to get in shower to make sure to have warm (not hot!) water.

Liked: A cosy place that makes you feel welcome.

Disliked: It got so cold at night that I had to cover my head with a bedsheet. Also I was a bit worried about falling off the top bed as they are quite narrow and completely unsecured.

Liked: They had good decor - Christmas decorations, suits of armor, etc. A brilliant huge kitchan with gas stoves. Pool tables and nice couches. The location was perfect could not have been better. The staff were freindly, and the rooms had lockers so you know your stuff is safe. Overall a great place I would deffinatly recomend it.

Disliked: The rooms were small but you do expect that, not all that warm. On one of the nights there was music blaring from the kitchen right up until 5 am, which made it hard to sleep.

Liked: Its in the center of the city, stuff is really nuce and helphul, they offer wireless Internet and breakfast in the morning.

Disliked: Cleaness of toilets and especially showers could be on a much higher level.

Liked: Good location, kitchen available, lockers in dorms, cheap prices - breakfast was additional, toast, cereal and juice for 1.90 all together but couldbe bought seperately

Disliked: Had to have a cold shower, even though it was 11:30pm and the showers were cramped, unisex and gave you nowhere to change or hang your clothes (the hooks were broken). They messed up my booking and charged me twice for the deposit then told me it was my fault. Slow internet which is only available in the foyer and no power outlets in any of the rooms so everyone crams into the foyer area, although there are plenty of power outlets there.

Liked: great location, friendly staff and a lot of free stuff.

Disliked: there are no plugs in many rooms, so you need to go to the reception area to get some electricity. Other than that, fantactic hostel. Great value for the money.

Disliked: It does not have an elevator and I stayed at the 7th floor.

Liked: I liked how homey everything felt and the 2 locations where I could hang out.

Disliked: It seemed like the only place that was actually warm were the entry area and hang out area downstairs. Our rooms were a little chilly and the hallways were just plain cold.

Liked: It's a great old house just in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town. You don't need to go so far to found something interesting; from local pubs to cashmere stores. The common area is great, with many interesting books and a very warm, friendly and cozy atmosphere. Rooms are clean and warm in the cold nigth, which is something you really thank after a day of walking under the scottish weather. Showers are great! Good price, actually very good.

Disliked: It only has one computer for all the people and it get so crowded at nigth, so if you want to send some important message you can't.

Liked: First of all, it is located in the very centre of the city, so it was really convenient for me. Secondly, the staff there is really friendly and understanding. Everyone is willing to help you in case of any problems. What's more, I like the fact that the property was regularly cleaned.

Disliked: There is nothing that I particularly disliked, especially because I expected much worse conditions for such a low price per night.

Liked: It is in absolute great location, very typical and great atmosphere around in the Hostel Lobby.. although the hostel room was bit old like feel and mushy.. which can be attributed more to weather in Scotland.. all great.

Liked: High Street was pretty good, though not my favorite stay. The beds were fine, and it was nice that you got a locker in room that you could lock your backpack or valuables in during the day. The space was safe, and you were able to leave bags there for free during the day before checking in or after checking out.

Disliked: To do laundry, you have to bag it and the staff does it for you, there are no outlets in rooms to charge things (again, have to charge it at the front desk), and the wifi signal was limited to a single room that was small and crowded.
