Liked: The staff was wonderful! Very helpful and upbeat. My favorite thing about the hostel was the lounge area and music room. Very cool to just chill and relax in after a long day.

Disliked: Lindsey left no negative feedback.

Liked: Very central location, staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Great atmosphere and character about the place - bit of humour as well (names of bunkbeds/rooms) - gives it a very relaxed and chilled vibe!

Disliked: The beds were slightly uncomfortable - think it was a thin foam mattress.

Liked: Everything. Location was incredible, everything was spotless, beds were comfy, my room was huge and looked out onto the castle ("plant biology" room, 12 bed dorm). I didn't have the breakfast, but it was only £2. They had 3 lounges depending on your mood and one had a fireplace. DO THE 5 DAY HIGHLAND TOUR. Or at least the one to Skye. Amazing experience.

Disliked: You can't do your own laundry. It was cool that you could drop it off and they'd do it overnight, but I want to wash my own undies, thanks:) This is barely a "dislike" though. Really, this place is amazing.

Liked: We likes most the lounge and movie room which we spent the time relaxing at the night. Most of the attraction places close around 5 or 6. So we always back to hostel very early. Since we don't drink, so we have no places to go. Thee very comfortable lounge and movie room really made us have a great time at Edinburgh.

Disliked: There is no socket in our room. So we have to take our phone and charger to the reception. They will help us to charge it. We only can collect it after few hours.

Liked: Great location, friendly staff, great facilities. Multiple types of common rooms allow for different travellers to relax / enjoy themselves - awesome place.

Disliked: Dbl room is quite small (basically only fits the bed) but with the variety and size of communal space available is really only a space to put down your head at the end of the day - still remains the best hostel I've stayed in yet.

Liked: - Solid bunks, no creaking - Good group rooms - They run the fireplace

Disliked: - No working power outlets in the bunk room. There's a note saying they don't have enough, bring things to Reception to be charged, but why disable the only two in the room? Power strips could allow them to be shared. - Washroom door bangs shut all night on 2nd floor, outside Rm 41. Kept me awake. Can't they make the spring return shut more quietly?

Liked: Location is great you could even see the castle from our room! I enjoyed the size and look of the hostel. Very quirky and very relaxed atmosphere.

Disliked: The room we stayed in was very cold. It had a heater which you had to repeatedly press to keep on.

Liked: Excellent location. Big rooms, fairly comfy beds. Good showers. Nice common rooms. Good that tea and coffee are free. Decent kitchen. Like the free lollies at reception!

Disliked: This hostel had the potential to be awesome, but it wasn't. There are about 50 full time students living there on a permanent basis. They think they own the place, are up themselves, take over everything and are unfriendly to outsiders. Therefore we felt intimidated and uncomfortable the whole time we were there, for 5 nights. This was the worst thing about this hostel. If they're going to have so many students living there they should make separate areas for them. Other things I disliked- dodgy wifi, very temperamental. Lack of power outlets in the room is annoying also. The kitchen was grotty all of the time, some of the staff were unfriendly, the lights in the room were terrible- you couldn't see a thing, and there were no rails at all on the top bunk which was dodgy.

Liked: It was as close to Edinburgh castle as you can get. The views from the hotel were great and you are within minutes away from the best parts of the city. The hostel itself was really warm and cosy (important in Scotland!) and the facilities were great- the jukebox and pool table/ lounge room especially.

Disliked: More Led Zeppelin on the dukebox.....

Liked: Very well located, friendly and helpful staff, good space, nice bathrooms, breakfast simple but ok, nice kitchen, good sized room, I'd stay here again if necessary.

Disliked: Nothing that I can remember of.

Liked: Free milk, tea and beer. Nice atmosphere. Value for money.

Disliked: It was far from the station. It would be nice if you stay long in Edinburgh but for me, it was a bit inconvenient. and bed was a bit dirty I felt.

Liked: It is perfect located next to the Castle of Edinburgh. The atmosphere of the rooms was great, you felt like in the middle-age.

Disliked: You have to pay for almost everything, there was no free internet at the computers and breakfast was also not for free.

Disliked: the staff would not allow any atmosphere in the kitchen area and were short tempered. They also emailed me less than 24 hrs before arrival saying we couldnt stay....
