Liked: The friendly staff were a great help, they could answer any questions we had. Also the beds were really comfy.

Liked: Castle Rock hostel is a funny place! The atmosphere is warm and extremely friendly and the rooms are simple, but functional. I felt safe all the time.

Disliked: There was not so clean all the time, but that depends mostly on the visitors, because they are also responsible for the cleanliness.

Liked: It's location was ideal for the Fringe. The staff were friendly and helpful. It had a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Liked: a lot of space, very big lounge with a piano as well:) and a big kitchen. also nice lockers and personal safe.

Disliked: toilets weren't always clean, kitchen is closed during midday. I can understand that you're not alowed to cook during cleaning. but it's annoying not being able to put something in the fridge if someone's not even cleaning but just checking their facebook... But apart from that it was a nice hostel!! Very recommendable!!

Liked: Good location, cheap, secure, free wireless, plenty of common areas. REally everything you could ask for from a hostel.

Disliked: Maybe a couple more showers. Had to wait one morning.

Liked: Very close to castle, restaurants and shopping.

Disliked: Large hostel, 14 people in one room, can get a bit crouded.

Liked: Best location in Edinburgh, just perfect, central as central can be but calm nonetheless. Staff is helpful and friendly, quite remarkably so considering the huge number of people passing through the doors at any time of the day or the night.

Disliked: Nothing that would come into mind.

Liked: The location is superb, right next to Edinburgh Castle.

Disliked: Maybe the hostel was a bit too big for my liking, there wasn't really a homely feeling.

Liked: it has character.. the people are great, the pub crawl is amazing fun and deadly! Even the veiws from the dorms are really pretty.

Disliked: there is nothing to dislike... possibly that you cant charge your phone in your room. You need to take it to reception to charge. which is free. so really there is nothing to dislike about this hostel.

Liked: Perfect location, really cool decorations and nice set-up. The rooms were spacious and the beds were supremely comfortable. I don't think it can be beat!

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Disliked: No plug points in the rooms and the rooms are not well sound proofed, so you hear lots of street noise.

Liked: This was a beautiful piece of property! Right next to the castle and close to an array of places to eat and shop. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast was offered!

Liked: the staff were great despite the fact that our booking was stuffed up. it didn't matter, because they rectified the situation straight away.

Disliked: the kitchens weren't very clean, but that paled in comparison to the rest of the hostel.

Liked: Great location and views, cool building, friendly and helpful staff and beautiful common rooms. Centrally located, easy to find, and incredibly safe.

Disliked: Room was incredibly stuffy and had a damp smell. Some shower stalls leave you standing ankle deep in water, and locked in with steam. No electrical outlet in room.
