Liked: Amazed at the friendliness of staff, the awesome location near the castle and main district of town, and the facilities provided. Biggest kitchen that I've ever seen at a hostel with ample utensils, fridges, stovetops and ovens, could easily stay here for weeks! Lounge rooms are spacious and comfortable, plenty to keep yourself occupied on long winter evenings!

Disliked: Just a few more computers/ cheaper rate for online access at terminals, not all of us have laptops...

Liked: Right next to the Castle! Easy walk to everywhere I needed to go.

Disliked: I had a room right above the reception desk; music playing in that room all night (not super loud, but there nonetheless) . Had some trouble getting to sleep.

Liked: Very friendly. Great common areas

Disliked: Dorm rooms are very large, and a lack of electrical plugs in the bedrooms to charge your phone/iPod etc.

Disliked: The size of the rooms and the minimum number of potential roommates is kind of large, but I never felt unsafe because those who choose to stay there are conscientious and respectful.

Liked: Great location, I loved the old building and the character and atmosphere of the place. Good value for money, it was really quiet at night for such a central location. Very helpful staff.

Liked: I stayed in the Castel rock almost a week, and I can just say: I highly reccomend. Good location in the centre, that is first. Very nice staff: kind, positive, ready to help, in one word: EXCELLENT! :)) The athmosphere in relaxed and it is fun place to meet people. Felt safe and secure, so I can say: I felt like Castle Rock is my "Home in Scotland" :)) All the best, guys! :o)

Liked: Fanatastic Location within walking distance of everything you need. This hostel has three main common areas which caters for everyones needs especially the quiet lounge for those of us who just want some time to read or enjoy some chill out time. The staff are very friendly and the kitchen is very big with adequate facilities. We never had to wait for a shower or a bathroom and everything was very clean. Will definatly stay here whenever we are in Edinburgh

Liked: It was right next to the castle and the Royal Mile. Prime location.

Disliked: It wasn't super neat or perfect but at least the staff was friendly.

Liked: the hostel itself was really nice, with a big central common room with free pool, guitars, coffee and tea, and lots of chairs and couches. there were also a couple of smaller lounges, all very comfortable and well decorated. one of the other lounges even had a piano and a real fireplace. the kitchen was very large and had, like, six sets of stoves and and was fully stocked with pots, pans, knives, cutting boards, plates, bowls, etc. the location was great, right in the middle of the old town. 10 minutes walk from arthurs seat, couple of minutes walk to all the old churches. the hostel is right off of the royal mile. also it is literally at the foot of edinburgh castle. also they will wash and dry a very large bag of laundry for you for £3.5, which is totallllllyyyyyy ammmmaaazzzzing.

Disliked: you have to pay to use the computers.
