Liked: I just liked everything!! :D you feel at home as soon as you arrive; it is the best hostel I've ever been to!

Disliked: nothing.

Liked: Cool hostel and in a very good location - close to Grass Market which was a great place to watch the Rugby! 1st floor bathroom cleaner than 2nd, but excellent value for the price of £13!

Disliked: The scaffolds everywhere outside, but it didn't make our stay any less satisfying.

Liked: It did have decent communal rooms so would probably be good if you wanted to meet people. The location was pretty decent too.

Disliked: The room wasn't great, small and had a condensation issue due to the way it was structured. On our first morning there the cleaner came into our room and opened the window while we were out. We didn't know this was going to happen so queried this with the staff. They said they opened all windows for a couple of hours to air the rooms out and then shut them again. Later on, we requested that they didn't open our window the following day because we had all our things in there and there was scaffolding right outside. The member of staff said she'd pass this onto the manager. However, when we returned late afternoon the next day the window was open again and I'm not sure anyone would've shut it if we'd not come back before evening. When we complained the staff were very rude and couldn't understand our problem. This also meant the hostel was freezing cold in the afternoons. The locks on the doors also make a loud noise so this disturbed us a lot during the night. We've stayed in hostels all over the world and I think this was probably the worse, I would've rather stayed in the travelodge.

Liked: Awsome location, cant complain about the security, bed, clean bathrooms, etc! Showers were great!

Disliked: To be fair it was off-season, but I didnt meet anyone my age/friendly. It seemed to be all young couples who were much older than me (19). Cant complain though .. it was very cheap. And no wifi in the bedrooms was a little annoying.

Liked: Great common rooms that are in decor with character. Really made use of the quiet lounge with excellent free internet connection. Every night there are movies showing, with really good recent releases! Nice staff and relaxed place, superbe location and rooms/beds are decent. I liked that they spread guests out amongst all of the rooms - my room of 6 beds was only half full the entire time.

Disliked: There is a locked baggage room however guests are given the code so can access unsupervised.

Liked: It's a very nice place! i'm very happy to have discover this youth hostel. There are a efficient organisation and the staff are very pleasant. The room are clean and we have enough safe area like locker. The kitchen are useful. To summarize this hostel is well situated near to the castel and it proposes a good services.

Disliked: Just improve the flush system of the toilets and maybe to think of ecologic sustainable developpment with a renewable water. It's possible with this system which are manafactured by BRAC system company : this link : http://www.bracsystems.com/

Liked: it's close to the castle,bars,shops and the waverly train station. The people were friendly,the beds didn't squeak and the showers had hot water instantly and great pressure!

Disliked: They have no plugs in the rooms or the bathrooms which was quite frustrating but that is all I can complain about.

Liked: clean, great facilities, big common room, helpful staff and lots of things recommended to do on the walls for entertainment ideas.

Disliked: breakfat was average and had to pay, have to pay for music to play in the common room they should have a little radio continuously playing for better atmosphere.

Liked: Location - handy location, just down to castle Price - cheap they also have free wifi but very slow... breakfast £1.8 (includes 1xjuice, 1xmilk or cereal, 1xtoast or bread and free coffee, tea)

Liked: Good warm rooms even in the depths of a Scottish Winter. Quirky decorations, great social spaces and kitchen facilities. Ideally suited under the Castle and very central. Helpful friendly staff. Loved it!

Disliked: There was nothing that I disliked about the hostel.

Liked: The lounges are great places to hang out and relax. I also really appreciated the location. Right off the Royal Mile and a close walk to the train station.

Disliked: nothing, really.

Liked: Great place to stay. Very well located, friendly staff, big lounge, pool table,... The only cons I found were: a. no sockets in the bedroom's wall, b. no toilet in the room. Apart from that, everything was excellent. I'd come back!

Liked: The hostel was really good value for money. It's a brilliant location, really close to anywhere you could want go to, with the castle just up the hill. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.

Disliked: It would be helpful to have power outlets in the room so that I didn't have to sit in the corridor to charge my phone!

Liked: Huge common area, which was not only louder common room, but also calm and cosy posh lounge and small cinema with wonderfully soft sofas. Idea of naming rooms and beds is also amazing. Good job, Castle Rock!

Disliked: The atmosphere and common area was so great, that it was hard to go out to the city ;)
