Liked: My key card was not keyed properly and I had a lavalava on. I had to go down soaking wet and dressed like that to the reception to get it re-keyed twice...but they were very helpful and understanding and one guy followed me up the second time to make sure I got in.

Disliked: I won't tell you...

Liked: I liked the bar and common area, has a good vibe to it. Also the rooms were very big, I stayed in the 38 bed dorm, and it was really fine.

Disliked: Only a couple things such as no elevator, very small showers and that some of the blinds had fallen down in the room so I couldn't get a good sleep once the sun came up (at 6am!)

Liked: The bar area was great for meeting people and hanging out. The murals throughout the building were brilliant!

Disliked: There seemed to be few showers.

Liked: This place had fun paintings on the walls, hotel style key-card doors and clean showers.

Disliked: A couple of the doors need a bit of oil to stop them from squeeking so loud. If you paint more, please only open windows to the outside, as the smell of drying paint can be unpleasant and cause headaches to your guests.

Liked: location was awesome, very close to the city centre

Disliked: toilet was small, only one sink for the entire female toilet. you can imagine that it was pretty difficult to get to use the sink.

Liked: It's a large building with all the facilities you could ask for. 24 hour reception, lockers, safe building, kitchen with free breakfast, Wifi (!), etc. Great place!

Disliked: If you didn't come with a big group, it seemed hard to meet people...

Disliked: The smell in the first floor and staircase. Showers had little privacy.

Liked: Extended free breakfast (all morning), free wifi, big guest kitchen. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms safe and secure with lockers inside. Best feature of this hostel was the "bean bag cinema", a small (and dark) room with a projector and hundreds of movies to watch - very cool!

Disliked: Not all burners in the kitchen worked very well.

Liked: I have been traveling Europe for a few months and stayed in many hostels. this was defiantly the best without question. great atmosphere, helpful happy staff, good facilities and also clean. i will be back

Liked: Nice big lockers large enough for a suitcase. Great facilities such as free 24hr internet access. Very friendly and helpful staff. The free breakfast was nice.

Disliked: Felt hostel was quite expensive. There was no television for night time viewing.

Liked: Comfortable-ish beds.

Disliked: Noisy at night and people doing things in the room that they shouldn't be (snoring, sexing, peeing).

Liked: Friendly helpful staff all hours

Disliked: The bed was so uncomfortable (springs through plastic mattress) that it was really hard to sleep at night

Liked: Free wifi in the whole place, lockers right next to the bed, good location in the new town and a big, well equipped kitchen

Disliked: Incredibly awful showers- need to hold the button down, very weak stream of water, pretty cold, no place to put my clothes, very cramped, people can see you changing if they open the bathroom door. The place is pretty huge, which makes it a bit harder to get to know people. One day someone had thrown up in the toilet, but this is a party hostel, not unexpected.

Liked: in a good location, but still not right in the middle of all the royal mile craziness, which i liked.

Disliked: i wouldn't say it was a dislike, but i really was showing up in Edinburgh just for one night and didn't need a lot of activity, so when 2 girls from Manchester showed up drunk and one proceeded to have a 10 minute cell phone conversation with her mom (about salad!!?), at 2 am....well. if you're coming to have fun, this might be a great fit for you. if you just need a place to sleep for the night...maybe not the best.

Liked: very cheap. nice staff. Good breakfast

Disliked: NOT enough showers! Looks like they have converted older shower rooms into dorms. Plus the showers are tight by the toilets, which is not very nice. £2.50 for a padlock for your locker is a rip off. Didn't seem like a good place to meet people, no one really got into groups or went out. I stayed on a Friday night and by 11pm more then half my dorm were in bed!
