Liked: Fantastic atmosphere. Everything was frequently cleaned. Availability of computers for free is great. Staff is exceptional, especially the girl with the dreads and lip piercings, Loved her!! LOVED breakfast until 12 and checkout at 12!

Liked: Everything was fantastic! I particularly enjoyed the available laundry services, internet/laptop availability and the breakfast.

Disliked: I didn't dislike anything about Caledonian Backpackers, but it is a 20 minute walk from the Royal Mile (it is, however, very close to Princes Street Park and the National Gallery).

Liked: The atmosphere was fantastic, very funky. The QPR is unbeatable. Good free breakfast. Big lockers, nice toilets. Free wifi and even a room with laptops. Without a doubt, of the best hostels I've been to.

Disliked: I can't recall anything. Only the long stairway that we had to walk up until reaching our room.

Liked: Location was great, right in the city center

Disliked: compared to what you get it is too expensve. We came back from a roadtrip across Scotland and we got B&B in every city we've been for less money.

Liked: Awesome facility, great amenities (movie theatre and pool tables are great!) and great location...Edinburgh castle is on your doorstep practically

Liked: Good value for money, the staff was very friendly, and it is in a very convenient location!!! Amazing atmosphere.... I will come back again and OF COURSE I RECOMMEND IT TO ALL!!!

Liked: I like that you could hire laptops at no cost and the lounge facilities were great.

Disliked: There were no curtains in our room so the light streamed in at all hours. The noise on the street and the bar could be heard until 3pm. There were only 3 showers to be shared for the entire floor.

Liked: Quirky but spotlessly clean and efficient. Brilliant laid-back atmosphere at breakfast.

Disliked: No individual bed lights. I'll take a torch next time!

Liked: It was a really nice and fresh place with a lot of young people.

Disliked: The showers on our floor were a bit bad but on the floor below they were fine.

Liked: This is the second hostel I have used in Edinburgh, and would be my preferred choice. The staff at reception are welcoming and friendly, have a great sense of humour (look around you - reception, bar, etc) always something to make you smile. I was in a 20 bed dorm, clean, comfy, the top bunk doesn't shake, rattle and roll like I have experienced in other places! Large lockers beside the beds. They don't charge an arm and a leg for extras, and there is free wifi in the bar and the chill out room. There are free laptops to use as well. Breakfast in the bar until noon (weetbix, bread/toast and jam, tea and coffee, oj). Location is good, a couple of nice pubs nearby, and a healthy stroll into the main shopping area. Two main bus routes within seconds of the front door if you don't feel like walking. Credit cards accepted, and they don't bang on a fee for doing so (one place up north tried it on, 10%, told them to get stuffed). I was due to go to another hostel (I only came here because the original one stuffed up and overbooked), however I cancelled that and remained here, so far four nights booked and likely to stay on)

Disliked: The only thing was not enough showers. Two male showers per floor, two male toilets, so it could get a little crowded. Also there was not much privacy in the showers, due to lack of room. If you time your showers to late at night then it isn't a problem. However in the morning when shaving there is usually someone in the shower directly behind you. There probably is not a lot they can do about this (well not without spending a fortune). The buggers jack up the price at weekends.

Liked: Good

Disliked: Only thing I 'disliked' was location. Not that its in a bad location, but I was interested in the parts of Edinburgh in the 'Old Town' and this is located in the New Town. Its about 30 mins walk although the distance is short (Edin is hilly). But location is brilliant if you want to do shopping as well as thats what the New Town is good for.

Liked: The hostel is really nice, it has good beds, good showers, a nice pub with a good quantity of free computers. There is free breakfast until noon.

Disliked: Some individual lights on the beds would make the hostel perfect.

Liked: Great location! A lot of stuff to do and superb value for money. Its very cheap for what you can get, breakfast, phone, laptops, cinema, etc...

Disliked: The looks are a little like a clasic Edinburgh crack house from the 90's. I get the whole idea behind the paintings no the walls but the quality is bad, perhaps you could invite some street artist and not just some friend of the owner and employees.
