It was a nice place, small with a casual atmosphere. only one thing I did not like: there is no recycling... thats the only thing...

It was small with a homey atmosphere which I like. It could do without the big TV tho. Steve is friendly and helpful and will make sure you have a good time! Thanks Steve

The atmoshpere of the hostel was great. I felt comfortable just sitting around in the lounge and watching movies with the other hostel residents. Steve was great. He chose great pubs for the free pub crawl where there was traditional live Scottish music being performed. He was also helpful in giving information about the city, where you should go, places to eat, etc. I would stay here again.

Very cosy and friendly atmosphere, great amenities (free internet and free breakfast!), very good value and brilliant local knowledge from the owner, Steve! The pub crawls proved an excellent opportunity to get to know fellow travellers and see/hear some really great live local music in hard-to-find places. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and plan to return! Thanks Steve!

The pub crawl, and just that it's smaller so more chance of meeting and getting to know new people.

cleanliness was excellent. Only that the rooms could be a little more big or could have accomodated less number of people. Athoug it was ok but this was the only defect noticed.

This is an excellent hostel for single travellers... the communal lounge/kitchen area is great for meeting people. They say in their description that it's not for groups -- there's a reason for this. There just aren't the facilities to have lots of people trying to do the same thing at the same time -- for everyone else it's ok though. The location is great. The free breakfast and internet makes it much better value than many other hostels. I stayed for four nights, then came back for one more :)

Fantastic, laid back atmosphere. It's a very small place that's relaxing, yet close to the downtown area.

The atmosphere was wonderful, it was really relaxed and comfortable and the staff-member running it was very friendly and helpful. He took the time to point out things useful to me in the area as an individual, and made an effort to make sure I wouldn't get lost. Being so small you get pretty personal service and everything is watched carefully but unobtrusively, so it feels safe and homely and is unrestrictive. A good place to spend a while, I'd go back. While a little hard to spot the directions are clear and the staff will watch for you if needed. It is only 5 minutes from the bus and train station, and 10 minutes from the Royal Mile - a beautiful location and good for whatever you are in Edinburgh for. It doesn't seem like a loud-party-all-night kinda place, but there are plenty of local clubs for that and I appreciated the sleep-conducive atmosphere!

The staff is incredibly helpful. It's a bit far from most of the tourist sites, though close to the bus station and new town. Very small (in terms of number of rooms, not in terms of size of the rooms) and casual. Highly recommended
