Liked: The member of staff on reception was very helpful and friendly when we came to him with numerous(!) problems.

Disliked: Our booking hadn't been picked up from Hostel Bookers when we arrived so had to stay in a different room to the one we had booked after waiting around for it to be sorted. This wouldn't have been a problem at all but the booking system at the hostel was obviously not working properly as another group came into our room at 7am the next morning! After being woken up early, we were all looking forward to getting out of there after a hot shower, however, the shower were not working at all and there was no hot water.

Liked: Location, and the idea of small flats with rooms

Disliked: clearness, The place is quite dirty, there are better hostels in Edinburgh.

Liked: Very cheap and tidy rooms, clean and spacious bathrooms

Disliked: The tea/coffee and internet area was a separate building, so if you wanted to use the internet at night, you have to go outside in your pj's to cram into the tight room where wifi is. Staff very acceptable but nt overly friendly.

Liked: Location is great but i personally think the hostel itself is not quite lively due to small area around the reception. But other things are great.

Liked: The location, the receptionist was friendly.

Disliked: Not one, big kitchen. The stove didn't work, so I couldn't make the dinner i had bought. No common room where you could meet someone else, only the small one at the reception.

Liked: It was close to the center of Edinburgh so we went on foot everywhere. Also, they knew that what a tourist needs such as tours, pubs, etc...

Liked: Location was pretty good and price cheap. Staff was helpful. Voices from the street didn't distract.

Disliked: Showers water pressure was low, and apartment was badly cleaned. Our room was cold.

Liked: Nice Internet, Free coffee, Nice People ;) over all perfect! If I visit Edinburgh again, I'll definitive stay at the Cowgate again

Liked: Great location, friendly staff, well-organised - very good as city break accomodation! (and a fantastic pub just across the street!)

Disliked: Squeaky beds and there were only shared bathroom facilities although we had booked a private double!

Liked: 2 rooms to a kitchen. Less crowdy.

Disliked: The back of my window was to some back alley where junk were stored. Also they did not clean the rooms daily

Liked: Great location- just off the Royal Mile and right accross from a great pub.

Disliked: Fairly unclean- other peoples cooked food left rotting in the oven, and shower was covered in hair and what looked like hair dye. Also hostel was fairly empty- no other travellers in our room, and only 1 other girl in the entire flat. Not good for meeting new people!

Disliked: Really dirty and the mattrasses are pretty bad too. In the room are just the beds, nothing to put your stuff away.

Liked: The only good thing about this hostel is the location and price

Disliked: It is not very clean, mold in bathrooms on walls and shower, damp on bedroom wall and ceiling, stale smell in rooms, very squeaky bunkbeds without ladders to get onto top bunk, uncomfortable cheap mattresses you could feel every spring through, a room window that didn't shut completely, only 2 toilets between 5 six-person rooms. Room hadn't been cleaned after the previous occupants had checked out. They made us move rooms halfway through our stay as they had overbooked and moved us to a worse room than we started in - the entrance to the apartments was up an alley which was frequently used as a urinal by passers-by and the main door to the close didn't lock as it had been kicked in and not fixed.

Liked: Nothing !!!

Disliked: I even renounced to my booking, when I saw the rooms (I prefered to loose my moneys) : never saw something more dirty than there. If anybody wanna spent 24£ for a night to see a museum of dirty... you're welcome to do it !!!
