Liked: Nice atmosphere. Nice extra facilities such as kitchen area downstairs to cook your own meals.

Liked: It was warm & very clean. I hate staying in places where the bathroom & shower facilities are cold & grotty, but everything was in tip top shape. The rooms are big & the linen in clean & the rooms are warm.

Disliked: There were no powerpoints in the rooms so I had to go down stairs and wait in the kitchen to charge my stuff & the tv area was a bit ratty.

Liked: Rooms were massive and spacious, beds really comfortable. Bathroom really nice and clean. Good location, easy walking distance within everywhere in Edinburgh.

Disliked: Common room wasn't really a common room, more a dining room for people to eat as the only seats were tables and chairs.

Liked: It was very clean and nice facilities. The staff was also very nice and helpful. The location was great for the price.

Disliked: There were no lockers that you could fit a laptop in. This was unfortunate because I had to carry all of my stuff with me. The staff said it was okay to leave everything in the room but I was staying in the female dorm with 7 other strangers. I did not feel comfortable leaving my things. They did have small lockers that would hold passport and little bits not very big though. It was only 5pounds and you get it back when you turn in the key.

Liked: The dorm rooms are in a hotel setting which makes things a little nicer. Good dorm room size and good to have an ensuite.

Disliked: The kitchen/'social' area is downstairs in the basement - 4 floors away from my room! It's next to the kitchen for the hotel and smelt very greasy! The kitchen is well equipt but it was dirty. Lots of funky smelling stuff in a tiny fridge and I had to chuck out lots of rotten veg before I found somewhere to put my stuff! Social space is small and not very comfy. I stayed for three nights and never really felt I had anywhere to just 'hang'. Dorm room was boiling hot (which maybe was a blessing as it was pretty cold outside), the lights above each bed didn't work and the shower light is on a timer, controlled on the outside of the room, so I was left in the pitch black twice! Also wasn't really any way safe I could leave my valueables so basically carried everything on my back for 3 days! I've stayed in their sister hostel and which I think is much better - just a bit more comfy and better kitchen/social set up.

Liked: Great rooms, friendly staff, clean and very nice to stay in. It was a little bit off the main hustle and bustle of the city, but had great deals on drinks and food in the downstairs bar.

Disliked: The internet didn't seem to work upstairs and there were no outlets in the room because it is a historic building.

Liked: Dee was amazing taking me out on Australia day :) I was a single traveller and everyone was very friendly..

Disliked: The only thing that was a little bit annoying was that there are no powerpoints in the rooms.

Liked: great decor throughout the bar had a great atmosphere and the staff were amazing throughout our stay. We stayed in a private room the room was very clean and the shower was amazing! very comfortable and warm room with a nice view over the local park.

Disliked: the internet wouldnt work but that wasn't anything major as they had a computer station set up

Liked: Extremely helpfull staff, especially Dee who makes everyone feel very welcome and even moved me to a quieter room when mine got too many noisy people in it. Very clean and well located so you can get to everything by walking easily but far enough away from the centre to be quiet on a night. Amazingly cheap considering how nice the place is

Disliked: Only seemed to be one toilet for the whole place but as the hotel was quiet it wasn't really a problem. Only real issue was no plug sockets in rooms so could only charge phone in communal area or leave it charging up behind the bar. Considering how cheap my stay was though I would have forgiven a lot more.

Liked: Big rooms and hot showers. Staff were nice and internet was quite good. Kitchen was really good.

Disliked: Such a long walk to anywhere of interest (half an hour walk to High Street on a good day). No powerpoints in the rooms that worked meaning had to sit downstairs or in the hall when you want to charge something. Rude people in my dorm and everything was dirty, I am unsure if the sheets ever get changed. Noise from the bar downstairs was SO loud, people drunkenly singing and cheering... Didn't really enjoy my time here at all.

Liked: The staff were extremely welcoming and gave us lots of advice for places to visit in the area. We were part of a big group and they were very accomodating to our needs. The kitchen and 'lounge' area downstairs are very useful if you are on a budget and dont want to pay to eat out all the time. The bar was also well priced and had a very friendly atmosphere. It was only a short walk to the west end of princes street, which was great for hogmanay. We really enjoyed our stay and were very sad to leave. I would definately recommend this hotel to anybody and hope to visit again sometime.

Disliked: On the first floor communal bathroom there were plenty of showers but only one toilet which could be a bit inconvenient at times. Also we could only find about 3 plates in the kitchen which made cooking for a big group a little difficult!!

Liked: I loved this place, definitely recommend it to anyone! It was in a great location and the staff were fantastically friendly and helpful! It has dorm rooms and is also a hotel so the facilities are super nice!

Disliked: Hot water ran out really fast in the showers.

Liked: Nice, quiet, and cozy environment. Best service I ever meet. A lovely staff named Dee, very helpful and friendly who help us to plan our tour, introduced and suggested us to visit very scenic views like West Highland, lochs, castles and etc.

Disliked: Kang Qin left no negative feedback.

Disliked: in the room for 8 people was only one socket in bathroom. Please next time consider that many people need to charge they mobile phones, or laptops.
