Liked: Excellent staff and service and amazing value for money, great atmosphere and very pleasant stay. Kitchen and toilet facilities were spotless, very nice areas to relax and also a great bar to enjoy with TV and live sports option. Staff were presented excellently and made you feel right at home from the moment you stepped in the door.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: what I most liked about this property was specially the cleanness of the bathroom and bedroom. People in the hostel is kind. I enjoy my stay there.

Disliked: I disliked that there are no sockets in the bedrooms, there are ones in the kitchen.

Liked: It was a clean place and bar services within the premises which is great .

Disliked: I was massively disappointed because there were no sockets on the Walls in rooms and I couldn't re-charge my phone battery and laptop which meant I left the hostel with a flat battery for both my mobile phone and laptop .

Liked: It's really nice! It actually is a hotel as the name implies. But if you choose to stay in a a dorm, your room is hostel-like, i.e. multiple beds. But when you walk in, you feel as if you're in a hotel, because the area is very nice and there actually are other rooms. There's a bar and it's a nice place to eat. Definitely an amazing value for the money. Sure it's not on the main road (Princes St is all shops) but it's just at the end. There are pubs, restaurants, and convenience stores nearby within a block or two. Starbucks and Boots are just at the corner. There's even a really nice kitchen if you want to cook or use a microwave. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. They told us about a really great free tour and marked places on a map to go. If you have any questions about the city at all, they will answer you. I would not complain about the paid breakfast considering how much stay per night is. I only wish I had been able to stay longer.

Disliked: Nothing really. The bathroom lights are a bit funky and make the room look blue, but that's the only small thing.

Liked: The Westend was ideal accomodation not a typical hostel. It was very clean with superior decor. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Disliked: The £20 deposit for the door entry cards seems a bit steep and as we lost one it turned out to be an expensive mistake They seemed to be under staffed for breakfast but Steven deserved full marks for coping so well and with good humour.

Liked: easy facilities and great staff. rooms were lovely, huge and comfortable.

Disliked: showers had erratic heat and only one toilet for that floor.

Liked: It's not that far from City Centre and it's near Starbucks, drugstores, off licenses, etc.

Disliked: Staff couldn't handle everything - guests and costumers. Some tables were really dirty. There wasn't anyone to welcome guests and front door was always open.

Liked: Very nice clean hostel. Helpful staff and all facilities needed available.

Disliked: Shower and toilet were shared by men and women. Too little space for food in refrigerator.

Liked: Comfortable stay, good bar and restaurant. Good value breakfast. Best of all were the friendly helpful staff.

Disliked: Bit of a walk to Princes Street and Royal Mile but there's buses of course.

Liked: Everything. It's clean, luxious, safe, good value for your money and also great for large groups.

Liked: Perfect accommodation! Beautifully decorated, comfy beds, good facilities, awesome bar, UNBELIEVABLE PRICE. I am sending all my friends here to stay!

Disliked: The only small niggling thing I could say if you insist I say anything is that the lighting in the bathroom was quite dim making make-up applying pretty difficult!!!!

Liked: i liked the easyness of arriving and leaving. it was a simple and hassle free experience.

Disliked: There were small lights above the bed but they didn't work, also it would be useful to have plug sockets near the beds to charge phones or laptops.

Liked: Lovely building, lovely decor. The staff was fantastic and helpful, the kitchen was fine, the eating area was a bit small and crowded but okay, and the internet reached all the way to the top floor (though it did tend to go out frequently).

Disliked: It's quite far out of the way

Liked: The bar area was nice. The manager was very friendly.

Disliked: We stayed there for hogmany and throughout the stay we did not get a hot shower. The water was very cold! The staff did nothing to rectify the problem. We stayed in a 18 bed dorm which became a 19 bed dorm when a matters was put on the floor to accommodate another guest. Considering we paid £50 per night I would expect better service.

Liked: The property oozed character and charm. Set in a historic property the hostel was clean, well run and friendly. The location is perfect for connections to and from the airport (just requires a short 12min connection via Airlink) and town (just a 8min walk away).

Disliked: Strangely the property has opted to shut off/ minimise access to plug sockets for guests. Rooms are without plugs (or plugs that work) and communal areas have very few. To charge your phone/ ipod/ cameras you have to sit by one of the few sockets accessible to guests in the foyer (an arduous task). Notably the kind staff would place the item on charge behind the bar although it would be at your own risk. I find this a strange decision and feel it could only be a cost cutting one. Other than this small hic up the hostel was superb.

Liked: Clean, pleasant. individual lights over beds. Being basically an off season hotel mean the decor was far better than most hostels.

Disliked: showers were only mildly hot. not bad but a bit warmer would be better.
