Liked: The staff was really helpful and my late arrival wasn't a problem. Good prices at the bar for guests and basic breakfast for 2punds. Generally, it's definitely good value for money.

Disliked: It's a little bit too far from the train station, if you have lots of luggage. Lack of the plugs in the room was an issue.

Liked: It was very good that the airport bus stop was close by and the city centre in walking distance. The staff was very nice for the majority of time and it seamed to be safe and organised there. We liked that we could have some cheap breakfast in the hotel.

Disliked: We had stayed in a different youth hostel in Edingburgh for the two nights previous to our stay at in a dorm at the westend hotel. There, we received a lot more value for less money and it was a better location, too. The breakfast there, was a full English and towels were provided. Although it was nice to be in these nice high and old rooms in the Westend Hotel, the room with the showers had a lot of mould at the ceiling and at the wall. Mould is dangerous for your health. We disliked, that we would have needed to let a member of staff know if we intended to use our bed lights - we realised that in the middle of the night, when we would have really needed the lights to work.

Liked: nice new comfy beds. Easy going staff. off the main drag.

Disliked: bathroom could have been a little cleaner.

Liked: the staff was very friendly and helpful! the bar was a nice place to hangout and get cheap drinks :)

Disliked: there was only one computer for guests use. while i was there it got a virus and was not available for use.

Liked: The atmosphere, good kitchen facilities

Disliked: not enough chairs in the common area, a stag party were staying for 2 nights during our stay which kept us up a fair period the night, don't think they should allow them.

Liked: It is value for money. Has a kitchen where u can cook for urself, TV lounge, free Wi-Fi.

Disliked: There are no sockets in the rooms.

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: Not much to complain about. Location might be far for some, about 10/15 min walk to city center, but wasn't for me.

Liked: clean and tidy, and close to the city centre.

Disliked: there were no lockers in the room only in the lounge, which was closed after 11pm.

Liked: The property was very clean and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

Disliked: The hotel is about a two mile walk from the city center which is quite far, and the room was quite expensive for how basic it was.

Liked: What I appreciated above all was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They certainly helped make my stay in Edinburgh a most pleasant one.

Disliked: One toilet for 2 dormitory (22 people)

Liked: Friendly and flexible staff, nice kitchen, decent bar.

Disliked: Dorms have too many people: more likely one snores loudly. Beds squeek, a lot... more than they should. Some reading lights broken. You have to use your key card to get into the bathroom, and that's kind of annoying. A little far of a walk into town, but that's not too big a deal

Liked: It is near the centre, 15 minutes walk. It has a bar and restaurant (but I didn't use it). The domitory for 10 people was clean and airy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The WC and shower were clean, although onely one for 10 people.

Disliked: Despite of many rather unfriendly warning signs, the member's kitchen was not clean. No tea towels, just some realy dirty normal towels. Only one smelly fridge, no free food zone, etc. Just good enough for making breakfast, I would not make diner there. A pitty, with some regular cleaning effort this kitchen could be a nice place. Parking place only at 15 minutes walk (approx 12 pound per day).

Liked: * Beautiful old area of edinburgh * Building itself is beautiful. * The 20 bed dorm is very spacious and comfortable.

Disliked: * This place is really a very nice pub, with a hotel attached on top. * Real lack of character, not a backpackers place at all. No atmos, not really able to socialise with other people. * Wifi was interrmittent. * Bar and common room closed at 11pm.

Disliked: Almost everything I don't like, cus too far from city center, only one bathroom can use that included only one toilet and too expensive for 12 beds dorm

Disliked: They said in the website that those who stayed at least 2 nights might have the trip to Giants Causeaway for free - THEY ARE LIERS! That is not true!!! We had to pay 25 pouds to go!!!!

Liked: good connection to the city and the airport.

Disliked: one toilet for one floor is not enough! beds are too noisy and not very comfortable.
