Liked: the staff were helpful and the bar was a good place to chill out and relax

Disliked: the door to our room didn't shut properly so at times that was a bit worrying but access to the actual hotel was secure

Liked: Clean, large and bright rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: Much further from city center than a non-resident would recognize. Also, hard to find when on the street, as they are not very well marked.

Liked: Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The facilities in the 8 bed girl dorm were lovely and clean a shame it Watson the top floor! Ten minutes walk from princes street so great location too. Could not fault.

Liked: Most of all I liked the staff, specially beautiful Dee. She's a top bloke :-D. The rest of the team (Ashley, Colin, Oliver and the polish guy) were also great. Comfy beds, modern facilities and good heating-system. I stayed 3 weeks in the hostel and in the end I was feeling like at home. Besides the cool staff, I would highlight the fact of having hair-dryers, which I found pretty helpful, as Edinburgh is one of the most humid cities I've ever been to. With regard to the location, It's obvious that it's not too central, but it's just ten minutes walk from Westend (where the castle), and it's really quiet there.

Disliked: Stuff that would improve anyone's stay: -I think just one lavatory for the first floor (for 30 potential guests in total) is a bit poor. Moreover, lights in there are dim, so when shaving off your moustache, take care cause you may only do it partially €:-=) -Wifi is sometimes too slow or suffers dropouts in the kitchen-mess area (basement). -Having a freezer would be awesome, as well as an extra-fridge too.

Liked: The discounted drinks at the bar were the best! Very clean everything and the bathrooms were nice and they had hair dryers in them! The interior was very nice looking aswell, and free computer with Internet. The whole place was very nice probably the best hostel I have stayed at.

Liked: The staff was more helpful than I could imagined. Everyone was very friendly and definitely made the place stand apart from any other hotel/hostel that I have stayed at. It was a pleasure.

Disliked: The location was slightly further from the main town center than I had anticipated-- but still only about a 15 minute walk. Seems a lot longer after a long day of travelling.

Liked: Judge Judy on the tv is great when you have nothing else to do.

Disliked: Dont make any noise after 6pm...it seems you will get a complaint, I mean, for some reason a 20 bed dorm deserves decorum at this time.

Liked: There is honestly nothing bad I can say about this hostel. It was amazing. Very clean, very modern. The staff were top class an were always willing to help or just have a chat. Say hi to Dee and Cam if you stay here, they rock. Will definitely return to this place next time I'm in Edinburgh. It was 15 minute walk into the centre of town, but past plenty of shops so it's a great location.

Disliked: Honestly, nothing!

Liked: nice bar downstairs - good food and drinks, and very cheap, best staff in any hotel/hostel I've ever stayed in.

Disliked: common room area closes at 11PM so no access to TV or just a place to relax and chat afterwards

Liked: Cheap and cheerful, I stayed during the week so wasn't that busy. Clean and for 8 pounds a night you can't really fault it.

Disliked: If I was to be picky, I couldn't use the WiFi that was down to poor sigal and my laptops age. Ie not Able to sign into WPA network and with two WiFi points they could turn one to WEP so it works with older tech. Also no lockers in the rooms means taking stuff around.

Liked: The location was good and

Disliked: The biggest problem was the noise of people when they came in the first night I was woken up at 2am by students coming back from a party. The next was when two African women had a heated argument in the room at 6.30 am and when asked to be quiet ignored it. The other problem was that the kitchen closed at 11am and opened up at 8am this made having breakfast difficult.
