Liked: very new and clean. big 4 bed dorm, most other hostels would have 8 beds in there!! great ensuite too!! lots of social areas, very good location. plenty of staff to help out. thoughly recommend this place for sure.

Disliked: was expensive. but it was new years and i did book 2 days before!!! so cant really complain!!

Liked: Location was really near from city centre, so I could go back quckly after Edhinburgh'Hogmany.

Disliked: My stays were a high season, so prices were just expensive and I was required to stay two night.

Liked: One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at - definitely deserves its 5-star rating. Clean & comfortable ensuite, safe hostel with helpful 24h reception (anything we asked, they found out for us). Very good breakfast for a bit of extra. We found the location (about 15 minutes away from the train station) good.

Disliked: If breakfast was included in the price, this would be the best hostel ever.

Liked: Secure, clean and efficient with friendly desk staff.

Disliked: Access from train station needs updating/correcting. Canteen needs to heat its plates. Not enough emphasis on full-time, full-use SYHA movement, as if trying to promote itself as one of those part-time university 'hostels' when the students are away, rather than a professionally run full-time hostel, something which is far more desirable to the traveller making a choice.

Liked: Very comfortable beds, variety of areas to sit and relaxe

Disliked: I dont know how they can charge £20 for a bed in an 8 bed dormitory - I expect to pay less for a bed in larger dorms - this hostel seems to have a 'blanket' charge regardless of no of beds in the room.

Liked: Very good location. No curfew. Lockers for baggage (really handy). Friendly staff. A little expensive, even for Edinburgh

Disliked: If you are looking for a place with lots of young people thats the wrong location for you.

Liked: Everything was fantastic about this property, it is beyond expectations. I will strongly recommend this property to all my friends ever visiting to Scotland. Property located in the heart of the city and its very easy to hop in anywhere. All in all a perfect value for money and at the end of the day a relaxing stay feels like @ home.

Disliked: There nothing dislike for this property.

Liked: This was a very good located hostel, near of pubs and discos to have fun. Walk distance to the city center as well. Very clean and safety. New furniture, or at least it seems so. Without disturbance or any problem in the aisles. We had a very nice weekend and I would sincerely recomend it.

Disliked: They charge the room when you arrive.

Liked: The rooms and room facilities were good.

Disliked: The general atmosphere. Also the communal kitchen was not really part of the hostel. Next tot that the internet was not free when using wifi and the computers were next to the door which was really cold in winter.

Liked: (1) Friendliness and helpfulness of staff; (2) good quality of room and ensuite facilities; (3) convenient location to central Edinburgh, bus routes, shops and restaurants. (4) very good kitchen facilties

Disliked: (1) Unable to book by phone or in person unless willing to pay full price in advance; (2) poor security of unlocked kitchen food lockers (3) high prices for food in cafe; (4) very high prices during holiday period; (5) restaurant not available to residents during normal dining hours.

Liked: If you're into the large hostel scene, this place is great. The rooms and entire facility was very clean. The staff was helpful and polite.

Disliked: The site mentions wifi is available, but never mentions a fee. I can't remember the exact costs, but I was disappointed to learn it wasn't free.
