Liked: It was central and warm and a place to sleep after a day on the slopes

Disliked: It cost £1 for 20 mins of internet and £2 to rent a towel !! The continental breakfast was over £4 - Total Rip off!! Also they have a 2am curfew which is ridiculous. The night club in Aviemore closes at 4am which meant we had a drunken guy banging on our window because he was locked out. Had to let him in because I was scared he froze to death outside. Should be someone there at all times to let people in. ALso check in at 5pm is a bit late!!

Liked: Great location - an excellent base for exploring the Cairngorms. Nice big common room area and kitchen, and extremely friendly and helpful staff.

Disliked: It is annoying that it costs £3 to use the wifi service on offer, although this is the case at all hostels run by the Scottish Youth Hostel Association. Also the showers are boiling hot with no way to adjust the temperature which made showering difficult.

Liked: location was good, easy to walk to the village centre as also good base point to explore the national park from there

Disliked: our room was small; it also smelled unpleasantly and ventilation ( opening of the window) was limited, thus did not help muchshowers have only hot water ( one can't get cold shower if you wish), which was truly not pleasant not to mention that one can not adjust the really hot waterfor the same price one can possibly get some similar accommodation around

Liked: Big

Disliked: The staff is unfriendly and they don't bother to provide any sort of service to the customers. The key couldn't get to open the door and they took quite a while to change it. Moreover the staff was not even at the reception when we entered, making us wait for a good 10 mins. The kitchen close at 10am sharp in the morning and the staff was there to chase us out rather rudely.

Liked: Good location for cairngorm mountain whilst staying in aviemore, fairly cheap

Disliked: We arrived at 17:30 to be told that they were catering a school group and we weren't allowed in the kitchen until 8. When We finally got in and started cooking, a member of staff came in and started complaining that he needed to clean and that we were in the way. The next day we were expected to be out of the kitchen by 8am so they could cater their school group. The ski centre was closed so we came back to the hostel for lunch, to find that the kitchen was closed for 4 hours until 2 for cleaning. Then that evening when we needed to pay the staff were all eating dinner, so we had to come back after going out for dinner just to pay for the room. The entire time we felt like we were being an inconvenience simply by being there. One or 2 members of staff were friendly and helpful but the rest were a little rude.
