Liked: It is really clean, the internet works, the shower is good, there are several toilets, the kitchen is nice and the staff speak English. It is close to a minimarket where we can buy yogurts, bread and other breakfast stuff. Coffee and tea are free at the hostel.

Disliked: The location isn't so good as they say. When I was there, the person at the reception advised me to take a taxi to come back to the hostel in the evening, because it was not safe to walk alone in the Rubinshteyna Street. And I didn't feel safe indeed. So, next time I will stay somewhere AT Nevsky Prospekt, not just CLOSE to Nevsky Prospekt. Other thing that bothered me was that there were some people that seemed to be living there. That is why I missed the "hostel atmosphere", where we can meet and talk to people who are traveling too.

Liked: The staff was helpful & the location is perfect! The kitchen is fully stocked (they even have the water filter).FREE tea, coffee, net, wi-fi, washing machine. We stayed in another hostel in St. Petersburg before we found this one and it just does not compare!!! Pilau Hostel is without a doubt the way to go!

Liked: It's very clean and new place. Very well located. I already send there 4 friends because i think it's a very good place to stay. I was in many backpackers and this is one of the cleaner Ii've been there.

Disliked: There is no locker in the room to keep your things but it doesn't matter because it's very safety place.

Liked: The hostel is really great : clean and in the city center. The staff is enthusiastic and kind. And you have many free facilities such as tea&coffee internet, wifi, iron, television,DVD...

Liked: Best place to stay in that beautiful city. Very nice staff speaking fluently english. Good location, near center, near train station to Moscow , near Helsinki bus departure. Free tea, coffee, wi-fi. Well equipped kitchen with clean drinking water! Possibility to watch dvd. Enjoy your stay!

Liked: Lovely hostel! Great staff, best location and nice people. Very well located for getting train to/from Moscow. Staff very friendly. Tea&coffee & internet access are FREE !!! Would recommend to anyone!

Disliked: my train was leaving in the late evening but I was not allowed to stay in the hostel after check out time although it was raining heavily

Liked: great location, really friendly staff and great place to meet people. it looks a bit tatty from the outside but don't let that fool you, it is great inside.

Disliked: there are no lockers.......but even though i left valuableds in my dorm nothing was taken.

Liked: Staff in this Hostel are so helpful and smiling so you can feel yourself relax. Also, the location of the hostel is really perfect, about five minutes the city center. So, if you like walking even a little, you can go around many places by walking. Moreover, there are two computers which can be used 24hours and WIFI in hostel. Last, kitchen is very useful because there are approximately all related items in it to cook so you can save your money.

Disliked: I prefer, there should be locker in rooms but anyway you can lock your money in reception by talking staff, this is what i did and it is safe.

Liked: Good location and facilities the hard working English speaking reception staff were most helpful

Disliked: A very minor point but visitors not familiar with entry bell systems might look for. as I did, a bell numbered 12 rather than appreciate you push 1 and then 2. Reception staff soon rescued me but it would have been a less pleasant learning experience on a winter evening

Liked: I liked the price and the location. The place was clean. I could easily check my email. The rooms had character. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked the room with 8 beds that I stayed in better than the 4 bed room because it was roomier and quieter (off the street side).

Disliked: The 4 bunk room was on the street and a bit noisy. It was also rather cramped and the floor squeaked, making it hard to be quiet for the other sleepers.

Liked: Very clean and close to the metro station (Dostoevskaya Stn.) and the city center. Free laundry was a bonus.

Disliked: The 4 bed dorm I stayed was too small. Not enough room to put everybody's stuff on the floor.
