Liked: So much the kindness of owners, and perfect place to visit city.

Disliked: Fancy Place not have kitchen, and no possible pay with credit card, but only in the Sabrina hostel place.

Liked: The room was very nice, it's all new renovated. And the location is perfect, it's directly on the famous Nevskji Prospekt.They serve you a good breakfast.

Disliked: It isn't really a hostel more like private rooms. They don't have a kitchen or common room. The staff can't speak any word in English and like that it's very difficult to arrange everything with them (like the payment, the key handling etc.). It was also very difficult to arrange the check-in, because the building has no official sign at the wall and the staff aren't the whole day there. And it's the wrong adress on the hostelbookers site!

Liked: Quite clean rooms, location was o.k. WATCH OUT We received an e-mail from Fancy Place (Sabrina hostel actually) stating that they moved to another location. We seriously doubt if we still had a room at Fancy Place or something else. This new location was unable to find. We had to ask a nearby hotel if they could help us. They called the owner of this new location so thanks to their hospitality we were able to get to this place. The place itself (an unnamed appartment) was substandard. Although the rooms were clean the rest was unacceptable. The "owner" did not speak a word English and wasn't around a lot, so we couldn't arrange to leave our luggage in the hostel for a couple of hours after the check-out, there was no place to have breakfast, the walls where very thin, which make the place noisy. We would recommend you to avoid Fancy Place and probably also Sabrina Hostel. Simply because you don't know where you will end up.

Liked: If they give you the room at Fancy Place you will get a nice room in a nice flat, but some times they change or at least try to change your booking to another partner hostel that look really horribol even for russian standards

Liked: The sign for the hotel is not visible from the street...the place is not easy to find and should be made more clear. Other then that, this place is good for the modest traveler. The breakfasts were very good and the staff was very kind. The hotel is clean and well maintained. If you plan to go, you should learn a bit of the language.

Liked: Good place and would recommend it, but very very hard to find. The cab driver couldn't find it, but we did arrive very late at night. Outside of the building is old and run down and signage for the hostel is terrible. Once we did find it and worked out how to get in it was very nice inside.

Liked: Dina is a delightful lady who ensures that the hostel is kept spotlessly clean and cooks huge Russian breakfasts for all guests (blinis, porridge, salads and many other things). She´s charming and treats you as if you were members of her own family. We loved her!!!

Liked: The staff were very friendly, even though there was a language barrier they ensured that this was overcome and made us friendly and welcome. Would definately recommend it and the location is excellent, within walking distance to all the main attractions!

Liked: fancy place is definetely a good choice when coming to St Petes. The only thing one should know and that wasn't clear from the decription is that there are beds for 9 or 10 people but just 1 toilet and one shower. This certainly provides for a "Kommunalka" feeling for those looking for some nostalgia. Also there's only one table in the kitchen where breakfast is served and it obviously takes some time for the loveley (!) housekeeper to serve and clean up after the first round of breakfast and then preparing the second round. That wasn't really communicated so we ended up waiting one morning for 2 hours for our breakfast at which point we just decided to go out for blinys.Breakfast is very Russian style so if you like gretchka and kasha it's good. If you're expecting a continental style breakfast you're gonna be disappointed.

Liked: The place was lovely. Spacious room, nice bath with bath-tub. Free internet. Everithing was clean, in the morning we got fine breakfest at the time when we wanted. But drink alcohol is not allowed, reason is not to disturb such a calm atmosphere. Find this place is not so easy, important is to remember numbers, Bolsaja Moskovskaja 53, Pochtamtskij pereulok 8 (from left side of the house), flat No 16 in the first floor. The woman did not speak english and wanted some extra money from us for her work.

Liked: great location - around ten minutes walk from the hermitage, three from st isaac's cathedral, five from the nevsky prospect.great breakfasts - home cooked!three rooms in one apartment with kitchen, bathroom, free internet; fantastic for a couple like us; if you want the true 'hostel experience' stay elsewhere, but if you are after a great location, fantastic value for money and a home from home - this is the place to stay!
