Liked: The room was pleasant and comfortable and the bed was a good one. I'd never slept on a circular bed before...! It suited me really because it was a nice base for my excursions around Moscow from what was a fairly central base, and I never intended to spend much time there except to sleep. It's just that the description of the hostel on your site was a little too enthusiastic, and if it's really going to fit, they need to improve things service-wise. Having said that, the service was good before I arrived there, in respect of the visa application invitation.

Disliked: It didn't feel very homely or friendly. Everything seemed too much trouble. I know that I could have put myself out to meet people more, although that wasn't really what I was there for, but the interaction that I did experience did not encourage me in any way for more!

Liked: Basilica is a very good hostel, cause is close to the downtown of Moscow and have a good staff and nice rooms.

Liked: We very much enjoyed our stay at the Basilica. The location was very convenient to the main sights such as Red Square. The personel were very friendly and super helpful. The kitchen was well equipped, the common room was good to meet people. We plan to return to Basilica on our way back through Moscow. Thanks!

Liked: It is in a good location, near the metro and the Red Square. The walls are thick, and the heating was very good.

Disliked: This hostel isn't for the guests, but it is for that the staff can live and cook there. For example, there were two fridges, one exclusively for the staff, and half of the other was for the staff two. Out of 5 kitchen cabinets, 3 are for the staff, guests can use only 2 pots for cooking (if the staff isn't cooking at the moment). We booked for 5 people in a 6-bed room, but we were separated (a 4-bed private room and one bed in a dormitory with 6 beds). (For the next question: hostelworld was promoted, not hostelbookers)

Liked: That all the staff were very friendly and willing to help. Also it was very conveiniant for both the Metro and the supermarket.

Disliked: Nothing - was so happy with it that I extended my stay!

Liked: Only the location is good and that's about it, nothing else is attractive or pleasant about this place

Disliked: This is a terrible and disgusting place. When I first stayed here, about 18 months ago, the place was clean and hospitable. Now, it is run by nasty staff who see you as a pest, do not know how to smile or to even make a small attemp to be friendly. The kitchen is filthy, the so called 'staff' stink up the place by cooking there all day (and reserving themselves al the space), homeless people that have not taken a shower in months sleep everywhere (sofas in the living room, etc), the front door is always open and anybody can walk right in, etc, etc. Nasty staff, this is all I can tell you about... if you go there, pay for your stay, lock up your stuff and try to avoid everybody else. Ah, the pillowcases, sheets and blankets have not been cleaned in years. When I was there, two big groups came by and as soon as each group would leave, the so called 'maid' would just spread the same blanket over each bed and thus making it ready for the next person. My pillow case stunk and I had to change it several times... I bet the absentee American owner has no idea how run down this place has become...

Liked: I liked the hostel Basilica , it has everything you need to feel at home there. it's not far away from the metro station and I will reccomend it to my friends. I also liked the hostel decoration collection. very creative!!!!

Liked: Quirky, enjoyed all the artwork around the hostel.

Disliked: Could be a little noisy at points, could be very good with a few upgrades. Some new paint, different ceiling tiles.

Disliked: lazy and agressive cleaning maid a bug bit my hand in my 1st night and was swollen during 4 days too far from subway station dirty floor in rooms thiny blankets for russian freezing cold no lockers in rooms

Liked: Pretty much had everything I was looking for in a hostel, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it in Moscow: - helpful and friendly staff, - central location easy to walk to main historical sites, - comfortable beds in large rooms not overpacked with people - clean and new shower facilities - large kitchen for guest use - had a large tent in garden out back where guests hung out together - wi-fi signal strong in dorm room I would very much recommend.

Disliked: directions from metro could be more clear, though if I brought map with me, would have helped much

Liked: The girls of the reception were very kind and helpfull.

Disliked: I didn't feel like in a hostel because other people who use stay there act in a way like they were a big family, however closed among them. No interaction, kitchen always full of people that at least in my own experience didn't like that foreign guests used it. The common computer is busied with the same guy. In short, in that place I didn't feel like in a true hostel.
