Liked: It was more like home-stay than hostel, actually It was so good all stuffs in there looks life new one a little bit difficult to meet owner ALEX, at evening he always go out but It's not bad, it made visitors feel more comfortable

Liked: It was great staying at Nova House, it had a nice homey atmospher. Also being that it was winter and there were fewer travellers it was like having a flat to myself for most of my stay.

Disliked: While the owner and his friends were very helpful, they were however not always around to offer help or anwser questions.

Liked: The owner was very nice. Location is excellent! Our room was comfortable and clean.

Disliked: Only one shower and toilet which are not separated. Toilet din't work all the time properly. The cat was lovely at first but then it was really difficult to keep out of our room. The owner wasn't there all the time if you needed him.

Liked: We stayed at Nova Hostel in October 2011 and enjoyed this visit a lot! The host is very nice and helpful and the hostel is small, but cozy and well-equipped. There is even a cat called Vaska, which creates a special homelike atmosphere. And it is really located just 15-minutes away from the Red Square. Though the area is rich in cafes, bars and stores, the street itself is very quiet.

Disliked: Vaska bit my friend. Does it count? :)

Liked: It was a great location for sightseeing. Quiet More like staying in a real Russian house rather than a hostel, not everyones cup of tea.

Disliked: Difficult to get hold of the staff, struggled to get keys to come and go as we wanted. If there were more than the average 4 people that were staying there it would be a nightmare as there is only 1 bathroom with no seperate toilet and very small living area.

Liked: Really friendly and welcoming, central location and an excellent cat! The owner even offered to drive us back to the station at the end of our stay.

Disliked: It's a bit tricky to find it the first time - make sure you take a good map! Look for a large wooden door under a small porch, and the hostel's on the second floor.

Disliked: unfortunately no one would answer the door. i waited for quite a while (during the time i nominated to arrive) but no one was there except the construction workers outside the building. i tried calling the number i had, but no connection. ended up staying at a different hostel

Liked: the location its great 5 minutes walking from the red square and the owner is very friendly.

Disliked: Its a very small hostel wiht one bathroom for like 12 people. There was not hot water during my stay that was very bad for me. it is not a clean place and it is no safe at all.

Liked: Cozy, located in a very center, clean, big bathroom, fully equipped kitchen (even with tea!), books to read & tour guides to check, owner personally meets you in a hostel that otherwise is empty during a day - feeling like in your own apartment. Area really nice with its own atmosphere, grocery store right around the corner, 20 min till Red Square by foot. Vasia, the cat, is amazing!

Disliked: The smallest hostel I have ever visited. At first not so easy to find when coming on foot from metro station and there is no sign on the building. Seemed that one guy is living in the hostel which sometimes made feel uncomfortable as we would bother but these are just few peculiarities, nothing bad.

Liked: The location is OK, it's about 15 mins walk to the Red Square but it's quite difficult to find the place if you do not read Russian even we tried to follow the direction instruction but with the luggages it's a bit frustrated. Luckily there was a guy passed by who led us to the building. The building is old and the elevator is a bit scary. We only used it when we were with luggages. The place is very cosy and really feel like home! The cat is cute and the owner Alex is super friendly. He gave us the map of the centre and is very helpful on our questions. Free Wifi internet is good, and Alex offered us a free ride to the airport express train station when we returned. The kitchen is pretty decent and you can prepare your own meal there without problems.

Disliked: Unluckily the hostel was fully occupied during our stay so it's like 10+ person fighting to use the only bathroom. I had the experience that I took my towel and stuffs and walking towards the bathroom, a woman came out from another room and spoke to me in her language while pushing me away from the bathroom. I have to check for 4 to 5 times before I could use the bathroom and I saw the cat also queueing up outside the door. when my friend was showering, someone just swithced off his lights for 4 times, guess it's a way to urge him quicker (but he was only inside for 10 mins...) we stayed in the room right in front of the living area and ppl kept chatting outside or talking on the phone (at 4am...) which disturbed us to sleep. there wasn't a proper door for our room so lights and noise just come to our room directly. our light button is outside the room so ppl would mistakenly switch on our room light in 2am. The cat is super cute but the litter tray is in the bathroom and I kept breathing with the wee wee smell when I was brushing my teeth. However I can imagine if there were less ppl staying there, it would be a terrific place for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Liked: Very nice place! I really enjoyed the place, very clean and quiet. It's just 10-15min by foot to the Red Square, and the area (Kitay Gorod) is full of bars and clubs, so perfect! I've been there twice and each time I met interesting and funny people. Alex the owner is a very friendly guy, he would help you for everything you need! Thank you again for these nice stays! :)

Disliked: The only negative point of this hostel is that it's very hard to find at first (no indication on the street) especially if you don't speak or read any russian! So you have to read carefully the indications on the "map and direction" part of the website.

Liked: I felt like at home :-) it was reaaly pleasant to stay at this place. It was very comfortable and i liked that i saw other visitors only once :-) if you want to stay in a nice, cosy, little place without noisy people - that's perfectly for you!
