Liked: The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and available at all times ot help you. There are plenty of people coming and going and it is a great place to meet people doing similar things to you. It might not be too cosy but the evenigns are sure a gte together time for everyone. The only thing is - don't get scared of the grottyness of the entrance and the building, the place is clean, decent and safe!

Liked: The location is absolutely superb and the staff, especially Kristina and Olga, were all English speaking and very friendly and helpful. There is also a good common area where it is easy to meet fellow backpackers. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. Thanks Mischa and Richard.

Liked: Richard and his team have produced a first-class environment at an affordable rate. The location is excellent, and in one of the safer city centre areas. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we very much felt at home. As you should expect, space is a touch tight, but not over-crowded by any means. If we return to Moscow, we will definitely stay at the Napoleon again.

Liked: Cool place to meet people and get some info on the trans sib - from other travellers not the hostel, just a few information boards and stay who tell you to look on Hostelbookers.Nice friendly place near Red Square. Visa Reg is 600 rubbles which is stong when you arrive.

Liked: First of all the Napoleon Hostel offers probably the best value accommodation in the whole of Moscow. It is so central to everything. You have Red Square, The Kremlin, St Basil's Cathedral and the Moscow River all within a 10 minute walk. Not to mention there are 2 metro stations within a 5 minute walk -Kitai Gorod and Lubyanka - which give you unlimited access to the rest of Moscow.Its a friendly hostel for travellers of all ages - I saw suited businessman alongside normal scruffy backpackers and i liked that - with all the staff speaking excellent English and who will help you in all your needs on your stay in Moscow including booking tickets for trains or say sporting events.Theres' always plenty of beer in the firdge which is very reasonably priced at around 50 RUR for a big one or you can just nip round the corner to Propaganda at any time of the day for a refreshment. If thats not to your taste then within the couched seating area you'll usually find 'The Exile' which is a guide to bars, nightclubs and eating places in Moscow. For you hot blooded males out there, there is also an erotic bar section in 'The Exile' so it caters for everyones taste.The facilites within the hostel are to all you needs. There are 2 seperate showers which lock for privacy and always have pipiing hot water and the toilets and washing area are always clean. The kitchen has everything you require including a washing machine and dryer and the facilites for making your own food should you want to are fine. There are 2 computers for unlimited internet access and you can print off anything you may need for a nominal price.As for the bedrooms well its dorms with 4 bunks which are fine. Very clean linen and towels provided. There is a safe room for your smaller and more valued possessions should you require it, and the key is held by a member of staff so you should have no reaon to worry (although people as people always do).From a personal point od view I found the rooms pretty warm but then I got lucky with the weather just at the end of September and the mosquitos at night ate me alive (swines). Next time i'll remember to bring my boots mosquito repellent with deet and that'll keep not only the mozzies away but probably most of the beautiful Muscovite ladies as its bloody stinking.Finally there are some great stories to be told and heard in The Napoleon Hostel from various travellers(especially about the guy in my room who wouldn't stop snoring until a Russian couple came in and started getting jiggy in the top bunk across from him) A Jordanian guy in the room with me will vouch for that story.If you're heading on the Trans-Siberian - which a hell of a lotta you will be - then this is the place to be. You'll meet loads of great folk like I did. Rock on The Napoleon and Rock on Moscow - great city great place.
