* You are not booze cruising through Eastern Europe - to put it simply, we don't like drinking parties and drunk people.
We do however welcome social drinking and will even offer you to sample from our home-made specialties sometimes, such as wine and plum brandy (Palinca).
*You can be considerate of other guests: mutual respect is the key ingredient for a pleasant stay.
We have a quiet time starting with 11 P.M. However, if you would like to enjoy the night in an unrestrained fashion, you can do so in the nearby bars and clubs and sometimes a member of the staff will even join the party.
* You are not a heavy smoker - East Hostel is strictly non-smoking and thus it might not be the most comfortable place for you.

Location Information
East Hostel lies at roughly equal walking distances to the main train station (Gara de Nord) and the City Centre in an area of hotels, antique and art shops and news agents. Just around the corner, on Buzesti St, you can find the nearest McDonald's. From Piata Victoriei on, along the General Kiseleff Rd leading on to the Triumphal Arch, you can visit the Romanian Peasant Museum for an insight to the spiritual and every-day life of the traditional agricultural Romania. The experience will be rounded off by an extensive visit of the National Village Museum, an important collection of national heritage rural architecture from every province of Romania.
Only 500m away on Calea Grivitei St lies the Rail Museum, covering over 120 years of rail history and the contributing factors behind the dynamics of its development.
Some of the most beautiful houses in the region (if not the world) crowd along Bucharest streets, often in a state of oblivion and disrepair and yet such incomprehensible beauty, that it makes you gasp! The city is marked by striking contradictions and contrasts and thus exudes an unique charm and melancholy. Once the second-largest building in the world, the present-day Parliament Palace formerly known as the Casa Poporului (House of the People), President Ceausescu's brainchild, is an example of communist monumental architecture and also stands as a memorial to the violence done to the city of Bucharest in the wake of the great 1977 earthquake. The interior shelters an array of breathtaking rooms, expensively decorated and at an unprecedented scale. Notable buildings from the same period are the House of the Free Press (formerly Casa Scanteii - House of the Spark) and Casa Radio. Besides the Royal Palace and the Cotroceni Palace (seat of Presidency) a great number of churches survive from the historical Bucharest, some of which date back to the Renaissance.
Piata Romana with its many coffee shops, bars and clubs, is within a short walk from our hostel. From Piata Romana (Roman Plazza) you reach Piata Universitatii (University Plazza), the core of academic and cultural life in Bucharest. Right opposite the University Building lies the National Theatre and not far away the Romanian Athenaeum, a concert hall equivalent to the London Royal Albert Hall, indeed dating from the Kingdom period and displaying in frescoes and mosaics scenes and key figures from history, among which prominently the portrait of King Charles I.
Bucharest can boast with a well-suited Underground network, highly recommended in this busy East European metropolis.
