All clients must present the Hostelling International Card at any Youth Hostel of the National Network of Youth Tourism in Portugal and of the international network of Youth Hostels or buy a Guest Card at the reception and the Welcome Stamps (one stamp for each nigth)
The Hostelling International Card is valid for 1 year (12 months)from the date of issue.
If the member’s behaviour is considered unacceptable, the Youth Hostel has the right to retain his/her membership card.
In case of loss of the membership card or any situation leading to the issue of a copy, the latter can be requested upon presentation of an invoice/receipt. The copy of the Hostelling International Card can only be issued, directly or through mail, by the Head Office of Movijovem.
The acquisition of the “Bed” service, gives the client the right to have a bed in a bedroom that can have more beds (collective). The room is allocated by the Youth Hostel and is usually shared with other clients who also requested the “Bed” service and who may not belong to the same group.
All clients accommodated in collective rooms must have their own towels-
Bath towels are available only for guests staying in double rooms.
During cleaning hours, the access to the rooms may be conditioned between 12h00 and 18h00.
Bed linen and bath towels are changed every three days by the cleaning services of the Youth Hostel.
Most Youth Hostels have restaurant service. (Inquire about this when you make your reservation).
Both the members kitchen and the laundry (when available at the Youth Hostel), allow individual clients to cook their own meals and do their own washing.
All information related to the use of equipment will be provided in the reception.
No eating, drinking or smoking allowed in bedrooms.
After midnight, the noise level should be kept down to a minimum.
Clients are responsible for any damage they may cause and consequences from their actions.
Disrespecting these norms can result in losing the right to the Hostelling International Card and the right to renew it.
Movijovem does not accept liability for any possible loss or damage to personal property that may occur within the facilities of the Hostels.
Personal assets forgotten or abandoned inside the rooms, after moving, exchanging or leaving the Youth Hostel will be removed and placed in our store room. These can be picked up within 48 hours by the owners against payment of a fee.
For accommodation and meals in Youth Hostels managed by Movijovem, the client must book and pay in advance.
When the client requests the booking of services, Movijovem informs as to when the payment has to be made.
If payment is not made until the established date then the booking will automatically be cancelled.The client is responsible for informing Movijovem of arrival and departure, type of accommodation, number of beds needed and other services, upon booking.
The client is also responsible for informing on any situation that might affect the service.
Booking can be made until 24 hours prior to arrival at the Youth Hostel at any of the referred places. To book within less than 24 hours, please contact the Youth Hostel.
Refunding is only possible whenever the respective amount is equal to or over €10.00.
The cancellation of bookings already confirmed and paid for, requires refunding of the following amounts:
More then 15 days before arrival date at the Youth Hostel – 75% (of paid amount);
from 15 to 5 days before arrival date at the Youth Hostel– 50% (of paid amount);
less than 5 days before the arrival at the Youth Hostel – no refunding of amount paid.
Booking is subject to a deposit according to prices in force.
A change in services or booking that have been totally paid for, allow Movijovem to charge 10,00 €.

Customers can cancel their reservation free of charge up to 1 day before arrival. After this date, charges will be applied by the property up to the first nights cost of the reservation, unless otherwise stated in the property’s conditions. Deposits paid are non refundable.
