Liked: The hostel (or rather a cheap hotel) was very nice and clean, staff friendly and helpful (pointing out places on a map, booking tours etc) and the location is just a short walk from the city center.

Disliked: The night guard charged us €2 for calling a taxi!

Liked: staff was very efficient in keeping our rooms clean and beds made. very friendly receptionist who marked out the attractions on the map for us. staff even opened/closed the lift door (lift in hotel had a metal grill and a wooden door) for us. staff was always smiling and very helpful. and the free wifi (which only worked in the lobby).

Disliked: the only thing i dislike was the water pressure for the shower heads, was VERY low and uncomfortable. otherwise, nothing else.

Liked: Good location, not exactly in Ribeira (old city center), but walking distance to it, and all the interesting places in Porto. And I felt safe there. Nice room, in a good state and fine size, clean (they clean it every day). Air conditioner (importante during spring/summer) Very kind and helpful staff (but I speak portuguese, it's easier). Good price for what you get. No luxury, but very decent place.

Disliked: It's not the place to meet people and make friends. If you aren't looking for it, it's OK. A bit noisy (some rooms are close to a somewhat busy street, others to other buldings.If "neighbors" want to watch TV very loud, you're gonna listen to it)

Liked: location was good. my room had a cool balcony!

Disliked: when i entered my room there was a BONE in the balcony (think it was from a big steak) that the cleaner had obviously missed. it was gone the next day (i had left it there). the exit situation...the door is usually locked, but there is NO button on the inside that guests can use to get out...one time i was waiting a little while to be able to get out. when i asked how people can get out a member of staff said: you can call me, when i asked: how? she then imitated SHOUTING! this was a little annoying...they need to change that...

Liked: This place was very clean as the room was cleaned daily. The staff were very nice and spoke some english. The place was in short walking distance from monuments, churches, cathedrals castles etc and also to the river Duro. It is also in easy riding distance or a decent walk to the beach town of Foz. The hostel was surrounded by many cheap places to eat, drink and shop. The metro, busses and trains were all in easy access from the hostel.

Disliked: The bed was a little creaky and not the most comfortable. The view from the window was blocked by security shutters.

Liked: Service, rooms and cleanliness like a hotel to a Hostel-price + phantastic location!

Disliked: No real common areas, no breakfast or working bar to meet other travellers. So best come here with your friends already.

Liked: Clean, friendly staff, air con, excellent location and good value.

Disliked: Room a litle small but didn't make much difference. View onto back of anoher hotel and a/c units but no big deal, spent most of the day out of the room.

Liked: A vantagem do hostel é a sua localização, bem próximo das principais atrações da cidade. Também não é difícil se locomover na cidade, já que tudo é muito próximo no centro histórico. Em relação à recepção, não há mapas indicativos dos principais pontos turísticos da cidade. Isso deixou muito a desejar e creio que isso dificultaria bastante para quem não tem o domínio do idioma. Mas é essa uma questão fácil de se resolver, pois é só procurar um posto de informação turística. Há um bem ao lado do prédio da Câmara Municipal, na Av. dos Aliados. Lá fui muito bem atendido e tive acesso a um mapa bem detalhado e um pequeno caderno com as principais indicações de horários dos principais monumentos e museus, além de informações sobre visistas às caves de vinho. Ainda em relação ao residencial, gostaria de registrar que o ar condicionado não estava funcionando bem e no dia que cheguei estava muito frio, além de quase não ter água na ducha do chuveiro. Vale pela localização, mas as condições do hostel deixaram bem a desejar. Creio que deva haver outros no mesmo padrão e mais confortáveis e com um melhor atendimento..

Liked: This place was FANTASTIC, really central and super clean. The room was a really good size and so was the ensuite. Well worth the couple of euros extra that I paid over a hostel to have my own space in this great little place! I highly reccomend it!
