The Savoy Gardens Hotel is in Funchal just over a mile from the centre, a unique area with a natural amphitheatre beginning at the harbor and rising almost 1200 meters high on gentle slopes around it. The Lido is lined with palm trees and splendid botanical gardens, and joins with the pebbled Praia Formosa beach at the western end of Funchal.
