Place, atmosphere

We had a great great time at OLÁ Backpackers, it was like staying at some friends place, the facilities are extremely clean (they are cleaned everyday), there´s everything you might need at the kitchen, cable TV, DVD player, internet access, free phone to contact the owner anytime, closest Metro station is 5 minutes walking, bus stop is 2 minutes walking, very quiet area but with nice bars and cafes, and most important, Ana, the owner, is probably the nicest person in Lisbon, I stayed there with my girlfriend for two nights and we are definitely coming back next year.

This hostel was fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about it. It was very quaint and little and it was a true Portuguese apartment. The owner was extremely nice and friendly, it is SO cheap, there is a lady who comes and cleans the apartment everyday, and the kitchen is perfect for making your own meals. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is traveling to Lisbon.

A very nice place, good located, wonderful decoration, lot of information an many things to do in the hostel, when you come back from turism in Lisboa.

Don´t forget to ask for towels upon arrival, they are not included, there is an extra charge of € 1.- for a set of towels

very laid back style of running a hostel, its like living in a sharehouse, unlike anywhere I have ever stayed before. highly recommended!

I thought this was a really great hostel, the staff was so kind and since there were only ten or so people there at a time, it felt intimate and very friendly. The location is in a very beautiful and not-so touristy part of town, and it has a kitchen, which i love.

When they mean self-service, they DO mean it! :) There's hardly anyone from the owners, so one is typically welcomed and introduced to the facilities by another guest. It's a really tiny place, don't really expect to book a double room and get one (they only have two, usually packed), but it has a great character, it's very cosy and warm. The only place in Lisboa one can come home 4,30 am, just to find a canadian, german and japanese-brasillian performing perl jam live with a guitar!... :)))) Great location, totally worth the money, if one is for some adventure and fun! :)

A *very* small and cozy typical Portuguese flat. The atmosphere generated is entirely dependent on the people staying there and with ten people it can be pretty snug. The facilities are great and it is a pretty unique hostel to stay in. More like a small self catering flat.
