Liked: great and relaxed atmosphere, very nice and friendly staff (with one exception), big rooms, clean bathroom

Disliked: we booked a room for 4 people, but they messed it up, so we slept in a room for 10 persons. I dont know wether it was their fault or hostelbooker's, it was no big deal however. the breakfast was humble, but ok.

Liked: It was closed to Cais do Sodre underground and train station.

Disliked: The hostel is in the heart of a dirty and really polluted area. They didnt give us key, thats why we had to ring up every time when we wanted to get in. Well, i cant say so much good thing about the breakfest...it was really poor.

Liked: Great hostel and so interesting. Full of eclectic decorations and a warm and comfortable atmosphere that makes it feel like home the first time you walk in the door. Great staff and great people staying here made it a lovely experience that I hope to be able to repeat someday soon!

Liked: The staff was extremely nice and friendly, I felt like home, it is not too big so I could have a quiet time while in the hostel. This place is also very pretty and full of character with azulejos and woodenfloor. I cannot wait to come back

Liked: Coming from a winter in Australia to a hot Summer in a city with 7 hills took a little time to adjust;, it was great to head out and explore then come back to the comforts of the hostel; cosy, comfortable and chilled- it´s a hostel that you can call home!! An old building that has been re-vamped into quite a retro hostel with plenty of comfy big armchairs to sink into and read for hours on end, amazing kitchen plastered in the traditional colourful Azulejos, gorgeous staff who have plenty of advice and recommendations on groovy lil restaurants and bars to visit. A communal hostel, great place to meet other travellers. Close to the night life hub of Bairro Alto, the hostel is at the bottom of the hill so it makes for an easy stumble down the hill at the end of the night, make sure to wear sandals or shoes that have some grip, the cobbled streets are smooth and on those steep climbs they can be slippery :)

Liked: This place is like a home away from home. It is hidden away but close to the train station and other transport options. The staff are amazingly friendly and the breakfast etc are great! I would stay here again...wish we could have stayed longer!

Liked: A charming renovated apartment, fabulous location, only 15-20 minutes to many of the major points of interest in central Lisbon. Incredibly warm and helpful staff with great advice of things to do and what to see. I'll definitely be staying there the next time I'm in Lisbon.

Liked: I was the last weekend in this hostel and of course I recomend all of you, is located close to the 'Cais do Sodre' is just 5 minutes walking. From the Airport you have a bus for 1,40€ that is going to 'Cais do Sodre' it takes 20 minutos, for back to the airport we took a taxi and costs more or less 10€ I recommend to you ask to the taxi before how much is it. By other hand is well located to the centrum just walking to Rossio 10-15 minutes, and in Barrio Alto for go out you have a lot of bars only 10 minutes. When you visit Belem you can take the tram number 15 at the principal street, you need 15 minutos. At the same street you have a supermarket if you want buy something. Really we enjoyed there, the staff is very nice, allways giving information about the city and worried about how is going the trip, if we needed something...very friendly people :-) The Hostel is clean, breakfast is included, and all are facilities..I have no doubts that if i back to lisbon I will bbe back these place. Enjoy your trip!

Liked: I must say that I was quite surprised with Lisbon Calling. I wanted a simple hostal and when I arrived I was immediately struck by how nice the atmosphere is. I booked for the 4 bedroom but when I arrived there I immediately wanted to stay in frescos room. High ceilings, amazing wall paintings from the beginning of the 19th century and really nice view to the church square. I’ve been in several hostals before, but never in one with fresco paintings. The whole place was decorated in a very unique way, everything though out to make it special. No IKEA furniture! Even the beds were specially made just for the hostal! In addition, I found the staff to be very friendly and always ready for a chat or just to give advice on where the best places to go. I definitely would recommend the Lisbon Calling Hostal to anyone who wants to stay in Lisbon, for all of the above reasons but also because it couldn’t be better located – in the centre, next to Bairro Alto and to all the necessary transportation – subway, trains and buses - to lead me wherever I wanted to go in Lisbon, as well as around Lisbon like Sintra and Cascais. To put it in one sentence, I will definitely be back!

Liked: I stayed here for the second time. I would not have stayed here if it wasn't good. The staff are toooo friendly. One thing that travellers wouldn't know is the feasibility for access to the public transport. The hostel is located next to the station called 'Cais do Sodre', its like the centre point station (Metro+Train+Bus+Tram station) for access to all of Lisbon and places around Lisbon like Cascais, Setubal, Cacilhas, etc., and more over, it is right in the centre of the city. So, if you are staying in Lisbon for only one night or two, and you definitely want to see the night life of Lisbon (which it is famous for) in Baxia, Chiado Alfama and the famous 'Tram 28 ride' , this is the best place to stay. You can just walk to all these places from the hostel by foot. Way to go Lisbon calling!!! I am definitely staying here the next time I come to stay in Lisbon.
