Liked: We liked it so much. The room was clean and very comfortable, from our room we could see the river. It's not far from the main places to visit. The breakfast is included and the staff in the kitchen were very kind. If we come back to Lisbon we'll stay there.

Liked: very friendly staff. good location, but hostel itself is from 2nd to 4th floor of the building- so you' ll have to go up high :)

Liked: Good location, however there is a fairly busy and noisy road right in front on the hostel which might bother you at night time. The hostel was very clean and tidy, especially the kitchen. It was very warm and sweaty inside the hostel, particularly at night (we were in june). The staff was very helpfull and friendly.

Liked: The hostel was very clean and had great character. We had a great time meeting other travelers over the free breakfast. The staff was very friendly and full of great suggestions for things to do in and around the city.

Liked: Quite basic but very acceptable. Staff lent me a hairdryer and an iron forthe stay (I was an "older" visitor with my daughter). Everything was withinwalking distance and I was delighted to chat with other people staying there - some travellers, others looking for an apartment in Lisbon. Breakfast was fine for me - loved the quince jam which you don't find in the UK!

Liked: First, the staff of Beira Mar hostel was very friendly and helpful. Always willing to help giving directions around the city, advising places to visit, helping with special needs always with a smile. Second, the staff handle different languages as english, french, spanish, etc. Third, the installations are in very good shape. Location close to subway, train station and busses. Finally, we will be happy to recommend it to friends and come back in future holidays. We thank Clotilde, Rosa, Emilia, Lourdes, Maria and Ana Maria for being so kind and friendly to us.If you ever come to Beira Mar, you will have a great time and you will be like in home

Liked: The stuff was really friendly, even if we have arrived late at night. Breakfast was fantastic, the staff was lovely and she speaks french fluently, nice atmosphere at the breakfast room, you get known of the other people staying there in a relaxed atmosphere. The bathroom was clean and nice, must be pretty new renovated. The area around is very nice and the hostal is ´"centrally" located to start a city tour. The airport shuttle is leaving nearby and the breakfast stuff informed us about the leaving times. Well organized. :-)

Liked: Beira Mar is located in a great location by the water in the Alfama district. Not realizing it at first but the Alfama district is well-known for the birth place of Fado, so there are many Fado bars and decent budget restaurants in the area. It is also at the foot of a hill, taking winding cobblestone paths and narrow alley ways to the Se Cathedral and great scenic views. BUT, one of the community bathrooms as well as the shower we had in our room, reeked of old urine. I asked the receptionist for some disinfectant spray and sprayed the shower down which helped a little. I had a private room with my girlfriend but beware there is not much privacy as the doors don't close tightly and the walls are thin. It was a great place to unwind but don't count on meeting new and fun people (although I guess I didn't really make an attempt). The staff was very friendly and let us pay by the day. They had a breakfast but I never woke up early enough to try it 0830-1100. The prices were great and listening to Fado music all night long through my window were the highlights. Sanitary conditions were not as bad I've seen but with the piss smell--I'd have to say, after 3 days it got pretty gross. Oh and the hot and cold water took a long time to adjust and if someone else was using the other shower you didn't get a lot of hot water.
