Liked: I loved this hostel! The atmosphere was great- not too big, but good common areas for meeting people and hanging out. The outside patios were very nice, even in the winter. The staff was great- very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and there was a lot of room, lockers under the beds, and plenty of hooks and hangers. The dinner every night is 8 euros, but delicious and a lot of food. The day trip to Sintra was fabulous- one of the highlights of my trip- and Carlos was the best tour guide!

Disliked: There was one computer and it was really slow.

Liked: Very helpful staff, good breakfast (much better than most hostels and also includes pancakes!), good tour to sintra and evening BBQ.

Liked: The place is in on of the best locations in the old town Alfama with a look to Tejo.

Liked: That`s my 2 time and won`t be last. Perfect localization. Perfect staff and facility. Friendly faces and great specials everyday! There`s more but you got to uncover youself:) Cheers Alfama!

Liked: I loved the place,it had lots of funky art decor , lovely garden and patio.The people who were running it were really friendly and helpful. what was so nice, was that their was activities on a board each day which you could go on if you wanted too,and they charged really reasonable prices. I have already mentioned this place to many people already.

Disliked: It was up a hill and a little away from the center of town, and the drive way was quite difficult to get a suit case up.to the hostel gate.

Liked: The hostel was very clean, close to the centre, had a nice roof terrace and also muesli & pancakes for breakfast free of charge! In addition, the hostel organises different events every night so you can't get bored. 24 hours reception and located in a safe neighbourhood. Last but not least it is really easy to get to the hostel from the airport by public transport. Will definitely stay again!

Liked: This was my first time staying in a hostel and I had no idea what to expect. The Alfama Hostel really became a new family to me. Overall the experience was amazing and gave me one of the best times of my life! The grounds were very comfortable and cozy. While it was hard to find, this also made it very charming in that you really got to discover the neighborhood by accident and find hidden gems. Everyone that worked at APH was so helpful and seemed very concerned about the comfort of the guests. I also did the Sintra tour with Carlos which is not to be missed, he is a great guide with lots of knowledge and pride in his country. I'm not sure if I got lucky, but everyone staying there was friendly and happy to get to know a new stranger. It was at these times, sitting in the common areas, sharing meals and interacting with everyone that I will take home as one of the most profound experiences of my life. It was a time when the world felt so much larger, but at the same time smaller. It's at these all too fleeting moments when the beauty in life becomes apparent and makes you forget about all your problems. Staying at APH made my trip to Lisboa one that I won't forget. When I return to Lisboa someday, I will definitely stop by APH to say hello or stay.

Disliked: bathrooms were a little small, but nothing that would discourage me from coming back.

Liked: Aside fom the location, the WONDERFUL STAFF who are always available, enthusiastic and who goes out of their way to make our stay comfortable and truly enjoyable. It's like "home away from home". They added good memories to our trip! oh, we love Tejo! :-D

Liked: De tuin die het hostel heeft is erg fijn! De activiteiten die het hostel organiseerde waren leuk en goed georganiseerd. Het eten was lekker, goede kok! De staff van het hostel was erg vriendelijk.

Liked: The hostel felt like a small community: It was difficult to distinguish staff from travellers, and the range of activities - from evening dinners to pub crawls - was so wide you could spend your stay in Lisbon just hanging out with your roommates. The garden and the roofterrace are stunning and overall the place has very good vibes.

Disliked: The anarchist atmosphere caused some chaos at times, but this is also part of it´s charm. After all, you are on a holiday, so why rush..?

Liked: The common area, chef Wolf's wonderful dinners offered by the hostel at a very good price, the staff was very helpful, the breakfast was very good.

Liked: Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. Felt like a big share house and very homely. Good activities organised each day and amazing food morning and night.

Liked: Breakfast was great, one of the best weve had. Dog was the cutest thing ever, gave even more character to the place. Good activities etc on offer and the staff were all friendly.

Disliked: The shower and even the toilet in the onsuite dorms was way too small!!!! We didn-t even end up using it and chose to use the shared shower instead. We did the Sintra tour and didnt feel it was worth what we paid or maybe it was lacking enthusiasm or fun activities? We also did the pub crawl and the guy who took it didnt seem fussed to wait for the group. Half the group got disorientated and lost while following each other to the third bar. The guy who took the tour did this even from the beginning, walking too fast to the first place.

Liked: They do your washing for you for 5 euro which was great, they put on a homecooked Portugese dinner some nights for 8 euro and it's 3 courses and tastes amazing! The staff were really friendly, the beds were comfy, and the whole hostel had such a great vibe - you can see the ocean from the rooftop terrace. There is a dog that lives there who hangs around so if that's not your thing, be mindful of that.

Disliked: The only improvement I could suggest would be to put some bigger hooks on the back of the door in the bathroom, they were so small anything you put on fell off. Just a small thing but its annoying.

Liked: Everyone focuses on the fun atmoshere, which does certainly exist, but more than anything this hostel is comfortable! Feels like home.

Liked: Great place to meet people, lot of activities planned by the hostel.

Disliked: There is a dog there, and it was uncomfortable having the dog around leaking the table and people on the meals time, but it seems that most of the travelers didn't care.

Liked: Best hostel ever!! Great location, great atmosphere. You can have dinner everyday, don't miss the BBQ. Although they are offering a Beach- and a Sintra- Tour.

Liked: The whole experience in Lisbon was unreal. The city itself was the most beautiful I have ever seen, and had such incredible atmosphere and character. The Alfama and the hostel was great, exceeded my expectations a big time ;). During my visit there was some festivities around some of the block of the town, really different, everyone should visit Lisbon at this time. The hostel was very clean and comfortable and cosy, and staff was very helpful, nice and fun, and they had all week planned out, if you want to go on a walk tour in the city or visit nice places around Lisbon. And in the evening offered dinner and hosted awesome parties and went out with you, etc. I could go on and on, but would not fare to the other hostels. But really, Alfama patio is just the best, don't look for nothing else. So basically, you just need (I should say) must come to Alfama patio hostel and you will have greatest holiday ever.

Disliked: Nothing. I should of stayed there longer than two days.

Liked: Out of the 14 cities in 4 countries we stayed in, this was by far my favorite hostel. They have great activities every night, it's a great spot to meet people you can go sightseeing with, good kitchen, a decent breakfast every morning... I wish I could've stayed longer. Close to a cable car, close to the castle, tons of places to eat affordable authentic food nearby, helpful and friendly staff! Especially the guy that comes and makes the dinner at night, i forget his name but he was awesome.

Disliked: I guess the only downside was our room faced the inner courtyard so it was a little loud but you could probably ask for one facing the other way.

Liked: Simply put, I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Lisbon than this hostel. I think it is the best description of what a hostel should be.

Liked: The rooms were so spacious, clean and comfortable, dinners were amazing (I ate here all three nights of my stay). The walking tour was fantastic (with Jose) the best walking tour I have done in my travels and I also loved the Sintra tour, Carlos is very passionate about Portugal! Thankyou Alfama Patio!
