Liked: The hostel is located in the Old Town, Alfama, a good place for romantics and lovers of history, offering attractive views of the city and the river Tagus, nice strolls in its narrow streets and a first-hand peep into the history of Lisbon. The center and public transportation are at a walking distance. By itself, it is a pretty place to stay, with its beautifully decorated garden and the friendly owners who try to make the stay fun for travelers (by organizing dinners/parties, screening films occasionally, offering free internet access). However, it is a FAR CRY from being peaceful, even in the middle of the night, which can be tough to deal with for some - unless you are a sworn party animal or a night owl. Given the high fluctuation of people there, most of whom stay just for a couple of nights, you can meet a lot of different people of various nationalities, very fleetingly though, but also find yourself sharing a room with somebody else frequently (without any previous notice), esp. if you have come to stay considerably longer. A free spirit predominates. The rooms are cleaned every day; (luke)warm water always runs; all seems safe (with every bed being equipped with lockers and the 24-hour presence of the staff); the breakfast is very simple, but okay. The staff are nice and helpful in general, though this slightly varied on a case-by-case basis in my experience - you still need self-dependence.

Liked: The best. :) Located in the most characteristic quarter of Lisbon. Green courtyard and terrace with amazing view to the Tejo. Relaxing atmosphere, and good place to meet nice people. Very friendly staff - thank you! Also great programs in the evenings. This hostel is one more reason get back to Lisbon. Really. :)

Liked: I have to say it is not a very good place for the people who like quiet to stay. And badly organated. We wait a long time to be able to enter in our room. And we do not know it is a room mixte.and we really don't have a lot place for our staff.

Liked: The roof top terrace is awesome. The staff is the best I have come across. Good view of the river from the terrace as well. Really close to some great restaurants for sardines and other portuguese dishes.

Liked: Complimentary breakfast was great, all day tea and coffee even better, complimentary internet, staff were very helpful and accommodating, portugese bbq was fantastic, the hostel had a great common area (balcony and garden) to laze about during the day and meet people

Liked: I really liked the location, as it was in the oldest and most unique (in my opinion) neighbourhood in Lisbon, the Alfama. The hostel fits well into the local area and provides features such as the treed courtyard and rooftop terrace that other hostels do not have. The view from the terrace was amazing and the whole feeling of the hostel was very laid-back and friendly. The owners and staff helped with this a lot and they were interesting to talk to while providing good information about the neighbourhood and what to do in the city. Overall one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. I look forward to a return visit at some point and recommend it to anyone who is in Lisbon. Obrigado AP hostel team.

Liked: I've been to great hostel on my week off in portugal, but alfama patio has something else others are missing. We were lovely welcomed in french by the staff, Simona making her way to get back at her 9 years old intense french :-) She welcomed us very well, as the saturday barbecue (grilled meat, salads, sangria, potatoes,...) was already on in the garden and terrasse with music in the background. The manager dangolia is great young, smiley and fun girl to meet and talk to. Safe enough has there is a door/ring to enter the hostel, a key to enter the room, and lockers inside if need be. About the location, very easy to access from tram 28 nearby stop or bus 745 from the airport..but use your foot and you'll feel the real alfama district around the corner!! Though i did not have much of a time to visit all rooms and stay there as leaving early on my only night, seems like bathrooms though is under-sized when it could busy...but has to be sure. But lovely place to stay, hope to come longer next time.
