Liked: Great atmosphere, super helpful staff, a beautiful little rooftop terrace and a great location made Alfama Hostel the best place we have stayed in Portugal so far! The rooms were really clean and they offer really cheap dinners each night for those on a budget. Only stayed two nights but could have stayed a week!

Liked: When we arrived here we were tired and cold but this hostel is so great becasue of the staff that is always there to help for 24 hrs a day and the atmosphere of the other people staying here.

Disliked: Nothing at all, it was a safe area to walk at night which I was worried about as well it is so clean, which is hard to find for a resonable hostel.

Liked: I had a fantastic time at the friendly, relaxed and atmospheric Alfama Patio Hostel. For a solo traveller or otherwise It has so many things set up to help you meet lots of people, such as the various nights out including the Brazilian and Fado nights and the dinners which are a good opportunity to sit down with people at the same time and get talking. And of course the garden and patio itself feels like an oasis of calm in the city to wind down and have a drink and chat. The staff were also extremely helpful and friendly, speaking to you like a new friend and not just as a guest. I found it to be very easy going and run with a family/community spirit. I have spent close to two years in total travelling over the years and stayed in a lot of hostels and this is one of the best. I would head straight back there if I was to return to Lisbon.

Disliked: I cannot complain about anything at this hostel.

Liked: Amazing, homely hostel in the best part of Lisbon. Surrounded by old winding streets, rattling trams and rustic local restaurants...this is the part of town you dreamed Lisbon would be like. The hostel was full of awesome super helpful people and puts on a fantastic saturday night bbq (with sangria!). We only stayed one night but are already planning on coming back ...could stay for weeks!! Gorgeous rooftop terrace with views of Lisbon and the river, a great place to relax with your morning coffee and yummy breakfast. Clean, quiet with a chilled out vibe. I miss Alfama already!!

Liked: Go to this hostel if you're in Lisbon. Clean, fun, friendly, amazing staff, and good location. It's in a nice district of Lisbon, and not far to the Train and Metro stations. The patio, hammock, and the dog make it that much better :)

Disliked: It was very clean, but maybe the showers need a little more attention for cleaning.

Liked: Excellant location in the very atmospheric Alfama district. Follow the walking directions they give on their booking sheet as I imagine would be difficult to find otherwise. Our room had a view down the hill and accross the harbour, and was near to Sao Vincente which was approx a 5 minute walk away. We walked to the Castello also and into Baixa from the hostel, and the #28 tram (which is promoted as being one of the more scenic routes) runs right past. Their is a big supermarket approx 15 mintes walk away, as the hostel has a full kitchen, and lots of little restaurtants near (we went to one and had excellant piri piri chicken). The hostel staff are very friendly and inclusive, and have lots of organised activities. Entry is secure with a secure gate and security camera. The internet access is free and the dog is cute. And the patio is awesome!

Disliked: The hostel sing song went on possibly a bit long into the night (but it wasn't too bad).

Liked: i loved my stay at Alfama Patio. I think it is great place to stay whether you are looking for something quite or for meeting people. The staff was friendly and helpful and the place and the location was great. Nice atmosphere. Personally i loved to collect my breakfast ( with pancakes!) and bring it up to the nice terrace to enjoy the stunning view. I wish all hostels were as worthy as Alfama Patio

Liked: A perfect hostel experience, really...the owner ensures, over and above the call of duty, that he and his staff run everything at optimum for the full comfort and benefit of his guests. This made a palpable difference to the whole atmosphere and there was an absolutely lovely calm feel to the place, but good fun too. Great garden and terrace for chilling and meeting.

Disliked: nothing to dislike, but please revise your instructions for arriving by tram

Liked: i had a fun 2 nights here, i was travelling alone but i met some wonderful people at the hostel whom i will remain in contact with!The staff are rad and knowledgable people and would recommend this hostel to anyone travelling around Lisboa!!ps Nina the German girl who works there, what is your surname?? or is it cool if you tag some photos of your bday on my facebook xoxo i didnt get a chance to say bye :)

Liked: I liked the homely feeling once you entered the entrance. It was like a neighbourhood garden. The receiption place is also welcoming, with light music played. The staff is indeed friendly and resourceful, they know the area well and gave a lot of tips for travelling locally. :) Keep it up!Breakfast was good and hand towels are changed daily.

Liked: Alfama Patio hostel was wonderful!! Everyone was so friendly and it was really nice hanging out with the other travelers. The space is clean and well decorated. They have different events going on most days of the week for really good prices. I really hope we can come back to Lisbon and if so we will definitely stay here. It's one of the best hostel prices I found in the city.
