THE NEWEST HOSTEL IN LISBON. OPENED 31 DEC 2007

Alfama district is a pearl to be discovered...
The labyrinth of streets resembles a North African city, harking back to its rich Islamic heritage.

Alfama is the original settlement of the city and the most traditional district of the Old Town:

- some of the most visited monuments are at walking distance: Lisbon Castel, Se Cathedral, National Pantheon
- remnants of secular traditions: this is the place that gave birth to Fado; where the yearly city party takes place; the historical fishermen quarter;
- the best fishes in Town still in its local restaurants;
- the age old Feira da Ladra (flee market);
- beautiful tiles inside and outside the houses.
- and even today, as in the past: white clothes hanging at the windows to dry, colourful flowers, legendary yellow trams winding up its narrow streets.

Alfama Patio Hostel: a place of history

Located in one of the historically significant areas of Lisbon, our building is protected by the law of historic monuments so that no changes can be made to its structure. Our patio was the theatre of history:

- one of the oldest Universities in the World was founded here in 1290,
- it is believed that Christopher Columbus, among other famous sailors, studied in our building.

Our Hostel is on the ground floor, with a private courtyard and terrace and a stunning view over Alfama district, the Tagus River, and the S. Vicente de Fora Church and Monastery.

With have only capacity for 32 persons, so the atmosphere is very familiar and friendly, you will feel as your home immediately.

Our facilities include a living room, Internet lounge (24h), fully equipped guest kitchen, 6 hot water showers (24h), separate toilets for boys & girls, lockers, sunny terrace with a spectacular view over the river and Alfama District.

We organize several activities weekly :)

We will help you plan your stay and guide you through the City’s Hot Spots, so that you will not miss the best that Lisbon has to offer. Our goal is that you go away from Lisbon, wanting to come back.

Though we like to have fun, we are not a party hostel. We aim to provide a quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the hostel, so if you’d like to party you can visit some of the clubs and bars close by.

We have a no smoking policy inside the hostel. But you can smoke outside, either in Patio or in the Sun Terrace.

Please note that this property is not suitable for people under 10 years old or over 50 years old.
