Liked: good location. helpful staff (son)..although the father let himself down by constantly nagging about noise and his conservative attitude.

Disliked: the father is very strict about noise inthis hotel and it's not ideal for anyone who wants to either A) watch tv, B) have conversations with friends or partners in their rooms. C) listen to music etc. we had constant problems with this and had him knocking on our door to turn down the volume on the tv. breakfast is not good at all. appalling coffee, dry bread with no condiments etc. very poor show.

Liked: proximity of the city center stuff was helpful, explaining all the possible activities on an island

Liked: We had excellent service. The room was very clean. Basic facilities, no frills and close to the centre. Family Horta were helpful and arranged airport collection and a trip for us. Substantial amounts of bread and toast at breakfast! It was good value for money.

Disliked: Bit dark, but this would be a plus in warmer weather.

Disliked: The pillows need replacing. Noisy if you sleep on the front of the hotel. tired decor and furnishing.

Liked: I liked very much the friendly staff and the fact that the hostel was really close to the city center. The manager let us use his private garage and he was very kind and gave us all the information we asked.

Disliked: Nothing in particular.

Liked: Lovely place right bang in the middle of the old town. Great manager, Joao makes you feel at home and helps you with anything you want or need to know.

Liked: Small friendly familyhostel. Good breakfast, very good help with everything, buses, levadas and all we ask about. We have a very nice room with balcony and view to the mountain. Couldn´t have a better place to stay in Funchal, close to everything. Litet trevligt familjehotell. Bra frukost, mycket bra hjälp med allting, bussar, levador och allt vi frågade om. Vi hade ett mycket trevligt rum med balkong och utsikt mot bergen. Kunde inte bo på bättre ställe i Funchal, nära till allting.

Disliked: Nothing.

Disliked: avoid the room no 24 which is faced to the main road, otherwise you dont mind noise of cars during the night.

Liked: Run by very friendly and helpful staff. Location is excellent, unlike a lot of the hotels that are quite a long way out of the city centre. Only two streets away from the sea and our room had a small balcony with sea views. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby.

Liked: I can't say enough good things about this property. The owners are lovely and ready to help with information and recommendations in any way possible. The rooms are good (mine had a balcony from which you could see the sea), and the breakfast is amazing. I was sad to leave.
