The interiors preserve the atmosphere of a classic Portuguese mid-century urban apartment, with its distinctive high ceilings and solid wood floor.
There are 2 shared bathrooms, which are kept clean all day round, a communal area which includes a properly equipped kitchen, a cosy dining room and a large west-facing balcony.
The avenue is part of the historical downtown, only a few steps away from the most significant monuments and highlights of the city.
The magnificent Theatro Circo is just across the street. Recently renovated to its early 19th century splendour, it is a must-see and worth getting tickets for one of the many concerts and shows that take place there.
The atmospheric arte-deco Brasileira cafe, which serves some of the best coffee in town, is just around the corner and a good place to drop into for an afternoon snack or a glass of port.
