Liked: The hostel is in a great location and seems like it is miles from anywhere (although it is not). Despite the rain I spent many great hours on the covered balcony reading and relaxing. I felt like I was half way up the Tatras in my own log cabin. Dave and Agata on reception were great. The hostel is small and intimate and a great night was had with other guests chilling long into the night with a few beers in the common room (which is the best I have seen in 20 plus hostels). Go here if you like the mountains, want to feel like you have left everything behind and dont mind talking the night away (quietly) with other guests. P.S free tea and coffee all day long and the breakfast wasnt bad either.

Liked: I chose this place because it was out of the city center at the base of the Tatras and within walking distance to most trail heads. It was like a mini retreat for me at the end of 2 months of travelling...great place to relax. The staff was very friendly and helpful, always interested in chatting and hanging out.they gave many great recommendations for hikes that suited the exact difficulty level you were looking for. They also offer welcome and goodbye shots of vodka so you get the true E. Europe experience :) The facilites were spotlessly cleaned and restocked with tp, much cleaner than many places i've stayed in. I would recommend GBL Hostel to anyone!

Liked: The staff are all friendly and i enjoyed the hostel because it is small and you feel you know everyone staying at the hostel.

Disliked: Bathroom seemed dirty and underequipped a lot of the time. could not provide map for walking which was the main reason I went to Zakopane.

Liked: Although it's not very near the main station, buses were frequent and the staff were really helpful when we had questions regarding transportation (actually, they were just really helpful in general :). The place is totally worth the walk and/or the extra bus though! The hostel itself is adorable and the atmosphere was absolutely awesome. Beds were comfortable and breakfast good and free. I met a lot of great people and there was a sense of community even though most weren't staying for long. Very quiet at night. I will definitely be staying here again when I return to Zakopane!

Liked: excellent natural environment, beautiful wood house by the forest. clean , helpful staff, good breakfast.

Disliked: For those without a car it is hard a little to get to Zakopane centre, but i guess taxi would make it.

Liked: I like the atmosphere, the sourondings with meadows and birdsongs in the morning while you eating breakfast.

Liked: GBL Hostel was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Cooking up sausages over the flame and sharing a beer. It had such a cool relaxed vibe. I recommend it to anyone wanting and escape from the city.

Disliked: I had to pay cash because the credit facilities had not been installed yet.

Liked: Great place to stay! Clean, friendly staff and such a nice log house with everything one needs!

Disliked: The bad thing about this hostel, is also the good thing. Meaning, that it is a little outside the center of Zakopane, and it is necessary to take the microbus or take a long walk to get there, but once there, it is so worth it! The hiking trails are at the door steps and it is possible to make camp fires and eat BBQ in the evening!

Liked: It is very close to the national park and the building itself is lovely and cosy

Disliked: We were here st the end of the season so there was a lot less going on in the hostel but I imagine in on seasons it would be a great place to stay.

Liked: On se sent comme à la maison. C'est un magnifique chalet, d'architecture des carpates, en dehors de la ville de Zakopane. C'est donc dans une atmosphère calme mais chaleureuse et reposante que se trouve ce backpacker.

Disliked: Les bus-navettes qui nous y mènent (bus 73) ne sont jamais à l'heure indiquée

Liked: We really loved everything about this hostel; the location was asolutely stunning and the hostel itself was a beautiful old log cabin. The common room area was a great place to get to know the other guests and we spent a very memorable evening there with the staff and fellow guests! The staff were fantastic: polite, helpful and very very friendly. You felt as though you were staying with friends. We really enjoyed everything about this experience and are grateful for it :)

Liked: It was a nice atmosphere and chilled hostel with nice, friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms and something a bit different from the norm.

Disliked: We booked into a twin room (with my partner) wanting an ensuite room and ended up with a room with 5 beds (two bunks and a single). Whilst it wasn't a big issue, it was a disappointment and unexpected surprise as it made the room feel a little less intimate, especially as we had checked out the website of the hostel and seen the room shown there. A little further out of town than you want to walk after dark, but overall a nice place.

Liked: I loved the log cabin feel of this hostel and the quiet surroundings away from the city. The property is beautiful with places to sit outside and soak in the fresh air, as well as a deck that overlooks forest and mountain tops. Inside it is clean and comfortable, with a great common space to relax in and meet other guests. The staff was extremely welcoming as well as attentive. By the end the place felt like home, and we were sad to leave!

Liked: The atmosphere is great as it's a great place to meet people and have fun. It's also very clean.

Disliked: It's situated quite far from anything but there are minibuses to take you downtown. This disadvantage is also an advantage because the hostel is situated in the middle of trees with a beautiful view, next to a national park.

Liked: So many things, they made setting up a ski/snowboard trip a piece of cake. Their breakfasts are amazing, just what you need before you hit the slopes. Showers are hot and the rooms have lockers. The staff are incredibly nice and if your lucky they may accompany you to the mountains as well. Definitely will be coming back at some point; loved it!

Disliked: The keyboards spacebar doesn't work overly well.

Liked: cheap to go skiing, nowhere else i could find with the kind of prices on offer here to go skiing. staff where very helpful and very cool. Good night out with a group of snow boarders and hostel workers.

Disliked: relatively small and so can feel kind of close when waking in the morning. Being a londoner, am used to the big city mentality/anonimity and this was the opposite of that. the hostel is 30 mins walk from the lively zakopane town.
