Liked: Very nice hotel, so different from others with a different reception desk. The staff are very friendly and always eager to help you out. It's well located near the subway line, which makes trips around the city much easier and offers direct access to important points of interest such as the colonial place and museums.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: The staff were excellent. They were great guides for the city, offering free walking tours, organizing parties, and giving lots of recommendations for food, shops, activities, etct. They even recommended that because i had an early morning flight, i stay at a 24-hour spa instead of the hostel, which turned out to be a fantastic and relaxing experience. Also, the hostel had a computer with internet that theynket me use. Overall, the staff is very focused on the travelers' experience.

Disliked: There were a couple of details that would make this hostel even better. They have signs indicating that they sell postcards with stamps and give away free city maps, but they had neither during my stay. Also, there was no handsoap in the shared bathroom, and i asked but never got instructions on how to lock away my passport and valuables.

Liked: Friendly atmosphere

Disliked: Had to ring the door bell to get in the front gate. It took quite a few tries sometimes to get someone to come and open it.

Liked: We liked the common kitchen, and how the rooms are part of a small appartment. The staff is very helpfull and polite.

Disliked: The moldy smell in the dorms

Liked: The character and atmosphere of the building. Staff were friendly.

Disliked: The area was very bad. Also there were many ants and some cockroaches.

Liked: the owner is very friendly and nice - so helpful in showing the way in Manila and how approximately peso you have to pay for you not being cheated. it is cheap. A must - visit the Chinese cemetery just few steps away in the morning or afternoon (not at night as it can be dangerous) for the bungalow house for the dead. the kitchen is almost complete with the stove and cooking appliance

Disliked: the street can be very dark at night and it is in front of the Chinese cemetery, kind of creepy and dangerous. the LRT is a little bit far but walking to there is a really mixed experience. you are not given the key to enter the house, it can be inconvenience if you stayed late as you have to ring the bell and wait for someone to open the door for you.

Liked: Staffs were very helpful and friendly. Value for money.

Disliked: Services were extremely slow. There was no hot shower. In the night the room was freezing because of excessive air-conditioning.

Liked: The staff (mainly May) was extremely helpful with anything we needed. She gave us tips on how to get around the city and was a very kind person in general. We met a lot of great people while staying at the hostel as well. The hostel is a little out of the way from major attractions and nightlife, but it's not hard or expensive to get around in the city. I would definitely recommend this hostel to people traveling in Manila.

Disliked: I didn't really like the area that the hostel was in, but I don't know how much better the rest of the city would have been. Also, the (always) locked gate in front is a little inconvenient for getting back into the building since you have to ring for someone to get you every time. But, it is understandable for the safety of the guests.

Liked: Red Carabao was so friendly! I felt very welcome and safe. The lady who greeted us gave us advice on how to navigate the city/airport with taxis and was extremely helpful. I didn't love the location.

Disliked: I would recommend this place if you are staying for longer than two nights, but if you are just trying to catch a glimpse of Manila is a day I would maybe suggest a place at a more popular location.

Disliked: Only one washroom for all guests. Bad smell of washroom at night. Water from shower too weak. Neither boiled water nor kettle supplied. Wifi can't connect at night

Liked: Great atmosphere, awesome building, lovely staff, clean and tidy rooms, air con and linen neatly provided, great common areas with big kitchen dining and lounge. Great area for us, less touristy area but more in the middle of every day life.

Disliked: Not their fault but water tank was empty on arrival and there were no showers or flushing toilets until the next day, staff very lovely but English of all of them no great (though in fairness I don't speak the local language either!)

Liked: The Red Carabao is a very clean and welcoming place, we could hardly believe this place was a hostel as it has the kind of attributes you would like to see in a five star hotel - so brilliant value for money and a nice haven for grubby travellers who have to pick the cheapest, grimiest of places most of the time, this is heaven in comparison! The staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful.

Disliked: The only jibe is that you don't get any kind of key and sometimes it takes a long time for them to open the door - just don't give up!
