About us:
Looking for a place to rest after a long and arduous walk in the heat of Manila? Red Carabao is your place. Opened in July 2009, Manila's newest, modern, alternative hostel is located in a clean, safe & peaceful neighbourhood outside the Main Gate of the historic Chinese Cemetery in Santa Cruz district of Manila, just north of Malate. Away from the 'sensuous' red light district, but within easy reach of everything Manila has to offer, it's the only hostel next to a metro station- your cheap, fast, green, and convenient way to reach essentially all of Metro Manila.

So if your goal isn't to explore shady bars, we're your honest-to-goodness best choice. Our rates, the free amenities, and the LRT will save you time, money, and even your Manila trip altogether from unwanted pain and regret. Read below about some of the advantages of our location. Not to mention, the crowd here is much, much cooler than, say, other hostels lacking a common lounge. Here you're family.

Our Location:
Red Carabao was founded to provide an alternative accommodation for international backpackers who wish to witness and engage real, authentic culture, and have real fun while at it. Or looking to meet like-minded folks. That said, here are a few special things about Santa Cruz district: The oldest cockfight arenas is within walking distance, so are bus stations for all northern destinations (Banaue, Sagada, Baguio, San Fernando, Clark Airport). Quezon City is also the local hang-out spot, not crime-ridden, overpriced Malate. We don't enjoy proximity to high-glamour shopping centres like in Makati, but neither do most Filipinos. Away from all the noise but within easy & short reach of everything Manila has to offer, Red Carabao is located in Santa Cruz district of Manila, just north of Malate.

We are next door to the famed Chinese Cemetery, near Asia's oldest university (which has its own museum), downtown Manila (churches), Chinatown (museums & shops), and a short ride from the border of Quezon City's popular and newest nightlife center (Timog and Tomas Morato Avenue). Not to mention, the Walled City of Intramuros, Rizal Park, Manila Bay, CCP, Mall of Asia, and many more churches are within close reach from us via the LRT!
