The sign above the door says 'welcome to our home' and nothing could be more true. These are fantastically hospitable people, running a bargain basement, but super-friendly hostel. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * IMPORTANT * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WARNING of a well organized SCAM!! If you travel with Cruz del Sur to Huaraz, you will be attacked as soon as you get of the bus. ´Captadores´, in BLUE jackets (3 till 6, with ´South American something´ on their back) will try to bring you to ANY hostel but Caroline Lodging. THESE PEOPLE GET PAID COMMISSION FOR EVERY NIGHT YOU STAY IN ONE OF THE HOSTELS LISTED IN THEIR BROCHURE. They will also try to sell you overpriced tours and trekking. This is a well organized scam INSIDE the bus terminal of Cruz del Sur. We don’t pay these people so our place is not recommend by them. Instead, our hostel becomes: far away, full, dirty, unfriendly. Please do NOT believe any words of these people. They make even fake phonecalls to check our (un)availability. Their blue car/van is paid by tourists commission. Don't let them fool you too.
Update> We have seen them in other terminals as well. They seem to spread like a virus. Please have a look at our picture number 8 to know who to avoid.
(other options from Lima: Z-Buss, Cial, Movil Tours, Rodriques, Cavassa and Julio Cesar to get to Huaraz.. Send us an email if you can not find the terminal in Lima.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
This is an unbelievable friendly bargain hostel in Huaraz. Recommended in Lonely Planet, Foot Print and Routard. Our price includes a pickup from the bus station and we bring you away if you want to leave. Besides the Spanish lessons we arrange for you, we have all the (free)tourist information you need and we have bikes for rent.
Note: Sometimes we are unable to have all our (economic) double rooms ´online´, because people keep coming and going and we don’t want double bookings. For this, we suggest to be sure, give us a call, and ask for availability for the forthcoming days. You will find our telephone number on the Internet. So even if you can't book a double rooms, this does not mean we don't have them.
At our rooftop we have kitchen facilities and a (cable) TV with DVD player free to use and a book exchange. We have pc's with headphones and fast Internet.
In a couple of lines: ªAmazing place with beautiful overview of the mountains where your hosts will do everything to make your stay the best you’ve had. ªHaving breakfast and enjoying the mountains on our terrace. ªAll rooms have breakfast included and this is not just jam and butter (come and find out!). ª We help you to plan your mountain trip and have kitchen facilities if you want to make your own meal. ª Our hostel is located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood so you don’t have the noise from the city center with cars using their horn during the night. We are 7/8 minutes walk from the Plaza de Armas by foot. ª We speak Español, English, Nederlands and Italiano. Help us work on our German and French. ª How many hostels during your trip have picked you up and brought you away to the bus terminal? Yes, we do. This is an unbelievable friendly and cheap hostel in Huaraz. If you go to Huaraz, you must have stayed with the family of Caroline.
Recommended in Lonely Planet, Foot Print and Routard and it is up to you to find out why.
