Liked: Edwin and the rest of the staff where just about the nicest people I'd ever come across in the hospitality industry. I felt like I was a guest in their home and they went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed, from cocoa leaves, to taxis, to toiletries. I arrived early in the morning and while my room wasn't ready, they let me catch a few hours sleep on an open bed. They were incredibly friendly and I really appreciated how helpful they were. I had booked a trip to Machu Picchu (not thru them) but they didn't hesitate to answer any questions. The wifi was very fast too! I had a private room, which was really nice. I highly recommend staying here and getting a private room, which was $16 USD, a great value.

Disliked: no private lockers and if you are in the dorms, you need to share 1 toilet and 1 shower with several people. Also, brush up on your Spanish, it's a mostly spanish speaking staff.

Liked: Just like in Puno the staff was really friendly and welcoming. (This is why I chose Marlon's house in Cusco). Sr Marlon is a great man, who helps you with your travel plans. There was never a problem with regards to security. Having spoken to a few travelers however, I think there are better places to stay in Cusco. Marlon's house in Cusco has a good character and it's possible to sit down and talk to one another, which I think it's selling point. This isn't a party hostel, which I really liked.

Disliked: The lack of lockers in rooms made me nervous at first, but the place itself was safe during my stay.

Liked: colorful athmosphere in an old colonial type house, just 3 blocks from Plaza de Armas, nice hosts, a travel agency for booking all your trips to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu is attached, very convenient....and while you are on trips you can leave your luggage at the hostel (but keep it locked, somebody tried to meddle with ours!)

Disliked: The bath room attached to our double room had no window and was smelling from the drainage pipes, so keep that door always shut... some of the people staying in the dorms remarked that there was only one toilet and one shower for them...

Customer review

18 October 2009

Liked: Marlon is very kind and helpful, but he is also very difficult to get a hold of because he owns another hostel in the city and divides his time between both properties. The staff (besides Marlon) does not know anything about tours, so if you want to take one such as the Inka Jungle Trail, you have to wait for Marlon to show up, which can take hours. Our bathroom had no ventilation and the door barely shut. Also, the kitchen is very small and did not even have a pot. One staff member was this weird guy who just strolled around aimlessly and watched us the whole time we cooked dinner. It was a bit awkward.

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.
