Liked: This property is a short taxi ride from the bus or train station (wanchaq) and a fairly easy 10 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. The free internet was appreciated. My room and ensuite bathroom was clean and quiet and the staff could arrange just about anything you ask for regarding travel and tickets etc. For my Machu Picchu trip I was able to leave my main pack in a locked storeroom and the owner even loaned me a smaller pack for my overnight kit! If in Cusco again I would definitely use El Tuco

Liked: The owner, Coco, is amazing and helps with everything, no matter if tours, illnesses, further travel, etc. On our whole 6 week trip this hostel was outstanding and definitely the best one we stayed in, thanks to Coco! He also opened the bar one night and made delicious Pisco Sour for everyone.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The owners are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The house had nice character and was peaceful. We felt very safe and well looked after both in the hostel and around the area. Great hot, strong showers! We would really recommend this to anyone!

Disliked: The location is not super central, but an easy 10 - 15 minute walk from the central plaza.

Liked: El Tuco biggest feature is its personal side. The close interaction with Coco, the owner, made our stay in Cuzco (and posterior visit to machupicchu) really easy. Another great thing is the space in the rooms (we stayed in a twin ensuite). In the end we even stayed two extra days!

Liked: Clean and quiet. Coco and all the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to provide advice and assistance about travel in Cusco. Also provided oxygen to a member of our team who was suffering from altitude sickness.

Liked: Big rooms, big bathroom, and the owner Coco, who was verry helpfull and friendly

Disliked: Like any other house in Peru, it doesn't has heating, and even in december during the night it is cold and if you catch a rain, like I did, it is hard to dry your things. But this is general to all the houses in Peru.

Liked: Coco, the owner was an absolute pleasure - nothing was ever too much for him or his staff... I can not speak more highly of them, and the service they provided. To top thing off Coco opened up his bar on our last night at the hostel (the bar is located in the basement so does not disturb anyone wanting an early night), and prepared his famous Pisco Sour... which I must admit definitely lived up to it's legendary status - Got to be the best Pisco Sour I tasted during our 2 weeks in Peru! We actually liked the hostel so much that we extended our stay there when we returned from the Inka Trail.

Disliked: Only negative to mention is the traffic outside which did disturb us a bit on one of the nights - my suggestion would be to request a room on the ground floor, as these are much less noisy (we stayed on both the top and ground floor). Other than that, this was one of the best hostels we have stayed in thus far on our travels of South America.

Liked: Coco, the owner of El Tuco, will make you feel right at home. My Spanish is quite poor, but that didn´t matter as Coco speaks near-fluent English. He advised me on places to go, getting a taxi, and so much more. The location is about 8 blocks from the main plaza. The area is less touristy and much more authentic than those hostels nearer to the plaza. I, for one, appreciated the walk through a more authentic side of Cuzco.

Disliked: Wireless internet access was turned on and off without much reason. This could be more of an issue with internet throughout the region and less to do with the hostel in particular. For me, it was not an issue, but for some this could be problematic. If you require 24/7 access, you should consider other locations.

Liked: We only stayed one night, but in this time we saw that coco is very friendly and nice person. he helped us with the taxi and he explain us the way through the city. after our check out we can use every thing. its a very nice place to stay.

Liked: Very helpful staff, Coco (the owner) would go out of his way to help you book things or find places around Cuzco. We were given breakfast on arrival even though we hadn´t checked in yet and felt welcome straight away. Has a nice clean kitchen to use which is a rarity in Latin America. Even though the hostel is a 10 minute walk from the plaza, it still seemed safe even on a Sunday evening.

Liked: Coco is a great host in this charming hostel. He can give you a lot of information on anything you want to know. The hostel is located on a corner of a bigger road, but you don`t hear traffic in the rooms. Rooms are very spacious, showers are the best we had in hostels so far. Rooms and public areas are very clean and internet is pretty fast. We even stayed 3 days extra! I would really recommend this hostel to anyone!

Liked: Staff très accueillant! On est arrivé sans prévenir à 5h du matin et on nous a laissé aller dans la chambre (sans avoir à payer d'extras). Coco nous a vraiment aidé tout au long de notre séjour (conseil d'agences pour Machupicchu, conseil sur les taxi et leurs prix, restos)! Recommended!

Liked: Really friendly, helpful family. Amazing Pisco Sour. Really felt at home here. Close to supermarket and some cheap lunchtime restaurants. Nice hot shower. Very clean.
