Hostel "La Casa de Margott", is a historical monument in Arequipa of colonial imposing style with modern facilities. In La Casa de Margott you will feel comfortably transported back to the XIX century with its monumental architecture and beautifully sculptured lintels, windows and sillars.
The role of "sillar" (volcanic rock), began in the last third of the 16th century. This volcanic stone, pearl or pink in color, light, thermal, aesthetic and weatherproof, was used in the early years as a building material for some of the larger churches and town houses. Later, it was used more widely for a range of different buildings in and around Arequipa.
A repetitive decoration with the use of pilasters entablatures and the use of vaults is another characteristic of La Casa de Margott. Our facade belongs to the neoclassical period and it contrasts with the endless blue sky of the city at the feet of its majestic Volcano Misti and mountains Chachani.
