Liked: Excellent location right in the centre, can walk most of Asuncion from here.Very knowledgable and friendly staff. I didn't get my passport stamped on the way into Paraguay and they helped me get a letter so I wouldn't get fined on the way out.

Liked: Cats everywhere, breakfast was rubbish (stale white bread and only dulce de leche). Nice friendly staff, only choice of hostel in Asuncion.. lacking competition.. Seems a little expensive coming from Bolivia

Liked: I've been to a lot of hostels in Central and South America and I usually don't write reviews, but for this hostel I make an exception. Staff is amazingly friendly and will do anything for you. Very easy to meet people, as there are only 3 dorms. Wifi could be a little better, but at least they have it. It's definately one of the best hostels I've stayed in, in Central AND South America!

Liked: This hostel is fab! The building is beautifully renovated/decorated, the staff are really friendly, the location couldn't be better, it's really clean and has good facilities - they now have small lockers in the reception for your valuable items. We had a fab time staying here and would definately recommend it to anyone going to Asuncion.

Liked: Staff is lovely, very friendly and helpful. Nice patio where u can BBQ. Maybe a bit expensive compared to the services they offer (very small breakfast, no computers). Airco in dorms is a big plus!

Liked: The staff here are among the best we have experienced over the past 7 months of travelling all over North & South America. They are very helpful and full of knowledge and good advice. Shame we could only stay for one night as it seemed a really cool place!

Liked: The staff are the one of the best thinga about this hostel. They are so helpful and friendly. It is in a great location right in the centre of Asuncion so you can easily walk to most places. The dorms are a little cramped and although there is free WIFI there isnt an actual PC in the hostel. Apart from those 2 minor things I would throughly recommend this hostel to anyone.

Liked: The main weakness is that there is no Internet except WiFi and I do not like to carry a computer. All the other hostels I stayed in in South America offered free Internet and computers. The owner and staff were very helpful with information that I needed.

Liked: The best thing in the hostel is its location. It is in the old part of the city and in a place you can do almost all the sightseeing that has to be done in Asuncion. The other good thing is that it is the first hostel in Asuncion and they are trying really hard to do it nicely. Rooms are ok (all the basics) and breakfast is very simple (bread and butter). There are not much fun areas in the hostel, besides a TV room (huge screen). No computers to use and lousy wifi - big problem for backpackers. They keep a cat and a dog and the showers are not nice to bath in - but do the job. Staff (mother and daughter) is very nice and help in all the ways they can! I recommend the Hostel, but remind that there are hotels with many facilities and for the same price in Asuncion.

Liked: Excellent hostel right in the centre of the old town in Asuncion. The hostel is run by a mother and daughter who are the most helpful people and cannot do enoguh for you to make sure you enjoy your stay in Asuncion. The hostel is a beautiful old building with a lovely homely and welcoming atmosphere. Thourougly enjoyed my stay! 5 star!

Liked: The hostel is run by a mum and daughter. both lovely. Its only 2 months old so its still being put together, but the rooms and rest of the place are fine. No internet yet . Better than a hotel anyway

Liked: The Black Cat is a new hostel in the centre of Asuncion. The mother and daughter who run it are very friendly and helpful. Its a great place to meet other backpackers. As it is only 2 months old, there are still some issues they need to address e.g. there are no lockers in the rooms, no internet access. There's not much to do or see in Asuncion (or Paraguay) but the niceness of the hostel makes up for it. The Black Cat Hostal is the best thing about Paraguay.
