La Spiaza is a little restaurant and B&B for travelers and Italian cusine lovers. It’s located in Playa Las Lajas, on pacific coast of the republic of Panama, just about 100 kilometres from the Costa Rican border.

We are a small eco-hostel. We provide 2 ensuite private rooms (double bed, with possibility of an additional single one). The cabin has 2 floors: downstairs is provided with a small porch and private garden, while upstairs there is a nice balcony with ocean view, perfect for surfers that will be able to check out the waves at any time. We also offer a Panamanian style "Rancho" (wooden structure with detached roof) where, provisionally, we rent beds in tents (max 2 people per tent; we provide mattress, sheets, towels and shared bathroom). The "Rancho" is soon to be refurbished and turned into a traditional hostel shared room.

Free Wi-Fi (satellite internet) access with you laptop, a fee is applied if you use our PC.
Bar and restaurant in the front part of the property, just 30 meters from the ocean. Pizza nights in week ends, film at nights (English and Spanish). Surf boards rental. We organize excursions to the Chiriqui Marine Park (great, pristine and cheap snorkeling spot) and horseback riding tours to the beach (15 km long) or to the Indian Hieroglyphics for advanced riders.

Accommodation Information

2 double rooms, private, ensuite, double bed. Possibility of a third (single) bed. Room provided with ceiling fan, small closet, small table, 120 V electricity outlets, Wi-Fi access, big windows, and ocean view. Either balcony (upstairs) or small private garden and porch (downstairs). Bed sheets and towels provided.

Shared rancho (tents): 8 big igloo tents providing a max of 16 beds (if the host does not want to share his tent, we provide a single mattress and charge only for 1 bed). Mattress, bed sheets and towels provided, shared bathroom (15 meters from camping site).

Location Information

Located only 30 meters from one of the best beaches on Panama's Pacific coast, La Spiaza is only 30 meters from the main (paved) road on the left. Near us are 3 local bars, among which 2 serve as well as restaurants. The main local attraction is the same beach, incredibly long and untouched by massive tourism.

We recently started a Sea Turtle preservations project: come and see them hatching in August/December. (More likely to see them during full moon. Please remember that torch or direct light disturbs them).

Ancient Indian petroglyphs just behind the mangrove forest at the mountain wise side of the beach. Local horseback riding tours available.

Snorkeling in Chiriqui Marine Park. We can help you get in contact with a local fisherman for transport.

Surfing here is not just for pros. Really good spot for beginners: sandy shore (no rocks), no currents, the break is right in front of the main road. Better waves during the winter (May/November), especially during full moon.

We offer surfboard rental & basic surf shop (wax, repair kit, etc). Full moon parties during the summer (December/April).
