Add to this the fact that it is located in the residential area of the former Fort Gulick, once the home of the Military School of the Americas, and you can be certain of visiting a site with an impressive natural beauty. The reverted areas that used to be part of the Panama Canal Zone are uniquely endowed with rich flora and fauna, characteristic of the humid tropical forest of the Central American Isthmus. Also, Espinar, as this sector is now known, is one of the safest and most peaceful places in Colon. To go out and enjoy a leisure walk in the early morning or evening with the cool breeze and see the wild monkeys and squirrels, is a great delight.
This is a privileged location, very close to everything. It will take you only a few minutes to visit the City of Colon and its important Free Zone, the largest of the Western Hemisphere. The port facilities in Cristobal, Manzanillo International Terminal, Colon Container Terminal and the Enrique A. Jimenez France Field Airport, passing through the Cuatro Altos Shopping Center, are also very accessible. You cannot leave without visiting the Panama Canal, which on the Atlantic Side features the Gatun Locks (they have a Visitor’s Center) along with the impressive Gatun Dam, also known as Spillway. Among other nearby historic sites, are the well preserved ruins of San Lorenzo, a former defense site built by the Spanish Settlers in the year 1582, at the estuary of the Chagres River.
