Voss Youth Hostel

Voss Hostel is located by the lake Vangsvatnet, 10 min walk from Voss center, the railway station and the cable car for skiing and hiking. Good breakfasts are our trade mark!

Voss is the perfect spot for anyone interested in sports and activities. There is something for everyone’s taste! The varied mountain terrain around Voss makes it an excellent base for walks and mountain hikes. There are plenty of lakes and rivers for fishing and good terrain for cycling and golfing. The more adventurous can try out parachuting, paragliding, rafting, river boarding and river paddling. During the yearly event Ekstremsportveko (the Extreme Sport Week) there are competitions in skydiving, BASE, rafting, kayaking, climbing and much more. Winter season lasts from December to April. There are very good alpine skiing facilities with 11 lifts and 14 runs. Voss also hosts several well-known cultural events like the Voss Jazz Festival, the Osa Festival and the Rural Life Festival. We are only an hour by train from Bergen and about 7 hours from Oslo.

The hostel is beautifully situated by the lake Vangsvatnet, 800 m from the train and bus station in Voss. You can rent canoes, kayaks and bikes at the hostel, and you can book activities such as paragliding and kayak trips at our front desk. For cold winter evenings there is a room with a fireplace, and in the summer there is a nice veranda towards the lake to relax on. We also have our own sauna. We offer accommodation in 4/6-bedded rooms with own shower and toilet. The rooms can also be booked as double or single rooms. Bed linen is included in the rate from 2009. We only allow sleeping bags in our big summer dormitory. From June to end of August our Summer Café is open. The reception sells snacks, sodas and ice cream, and there is a guest kitchen for your use. A breakfast with organic products is included in the rate!
